you fag anti.

I was on your site looking for a good pic to rasterbate. There are some awesome prints you have posted, but I don't want to seem like a creaper if i rasterbate a girl sitting at a bus stop on my wall. haha You have anything cool that I can blow my load all over?

I'll probably get flamed, but what is this "rasterbating" anyway?

Getting a Canon Rebel XT for 479.99 with the cheap kit lens what is it 15mm-55mm? Oh well, ill get a better lens later, but this be an early X-mas gift...can't wait to shoot with it, i have been playing with the one at work and i love it.

anti 09-29-2007 04:04 PM

forte you gotta stop making insanely cheesy titles. sorry.

milla, usually stock lenses aren't that bad. i know nikon does a pretty good job with their stock lenses but i don't know about canon. 18-55 (i think that's it) is a good range though; specially if you're into wider angles. focusing and build quality will be the only things that you'll notice suck.

Milla 09-29-2007 04:23 PM

eh, like i said it should be sufficient enough for now. I am going to the Shenandoah mountains next month so i want some nice shots.

Milla 10-04-2007 01:30 PM

It was an early xmas gift, i didnt buy it, otherwise i would get a new computer gerv lol.

Plus im leaving for Iraq so upgrading now is pointless.

Milla 10-04-2007 03:08 PM

Anti or TGB when i go to open the RAW files from the camera in Adobe CS2 it says its the wrong file type, but extension is CR2 on the pics...what do i do?

Milla 10-04-2007 07:23 PM

http://img455.imageshack.us/img455/5...nyrebelgq5.jpg

just some contrast editing

TGB! 10-06-2007 04:14 PM

I had nothing but fucking problems with CS2. Dunno what your downloading capability is, but I would grab CS3 post-haste - I had zero problems using that. My question though is, are you doing enough RAW-tweaking in Camera Raw to make it worthwhile? Picassa can open RAW files, and then open a JPEG/TIFF/W.E in CS2 - doesn't have the pre-post-processing power, but it should suffice.

CR2 is Canons RAW file format (I dont think theres actually a .RAW file extension). On the D80 its .NEF. You may just have to update to CS3, as CS2 Camera Raw wasn't all that great to begin with, and may not have newer camera file support.

Milla 10-06-2007 09:23 PM

Problem is TGB is that i had problems with CS3 running like shit on my computer when i DLed it. CS2 runs great, but CS3...i dunno something wasn't right it was real laggy

TGB! 10-06-2007 09:33 PM

If the problem is indeed that your version of CAMERA RAW doesn't support that file type, then you'll probably just have to find an alternative option, or somehow get an updated version of CS2. I'm sure theres a "broked" version of a CAMERA RAW update that supports CR2, shouldn't be too hard to find.

Quote:

Support for the 5D was added in Camera Raw 3.3. So please make sure you do have 3.7 installed. Go to Photoshop and click on the Help menu, select About Plugins and then select Camera Raw.
Sounds like this is the route you need to go, if you want support in CS2.

Milla 10-06-2007 09:54 PM

TGB question about lenses, i like nature shots like i said before...what lens is good, a wide angle i take it?

Forte 10-06-2007 11:39 PM

a wide angle telephoto would be good. I am getting one for my backpacking trip this summer.
http://www.popphoto.com/cameralenses...-ii-macro.html

That is a pretty good one. I tend to not trust third party lenses though, had a few bad experiences with them in the past.

Milla 10-07-2007 01:43 AM

Tamron is good? I heard a few bad things about them

Forte 10-07-2007 02:36 AM

So have I. But that is a good mm length for outdoors shooting. I plan on getting a similar Nikkor lense for when I go backpacking this summer.

your going to Iraq :( when are you leaving?

TGB! 10-07-2007 12:09 PM

wide-angle telephoto. . .o-0

I'd stay away from anything that covers a wide to true telephoto area, because it's not going to be as great as a true wide-angle lens, and a true prime telephoto. The lenses that do cover that range are great for all purpose kit lens replacers though.

If you have some cash (especially if you're heading to Iraq) I would opt for a lil 14/18-24MM lens (with a good aperture range), and a 100MM (cant remember the exact length) prime/macro lens. Keep your current kit lens for general shooting, and use the other two for grabbing super wides and good 1:1 telephoto shots. You wont be disappointed.

Tamron is good, but Sigma is generally priced at about the same and (in my experience) better regarded.
