Yeah, M Night Shamalayan.... or however you spell it. Hes in all of his movies.

Anyway with the water thing...I don't think it was water that killed them. Yes, there was a reaction to the water, but I don't think this was fatal to them.

Remember on the TV it says something like "The fight started to turn around in the Middle East where 3 cities found an ancient ritual which was fatal to the invaders." If water was the main posion, why wouldn't they just say "Go get some friggin water guns and start shooting the bastards." You don't hear this at all in the movie.

You could probably compare the aliens to humans. The're probably susceptable to injuries, just like us. Perhaps water to them is like some type of gas or acid to us. I know there are a lot of plot holes in this one, but I think i can overlook the and try to have fun with the movie.

I don't know how you weren't scared at times in this movie. Did you like the Sixth Sense? Or do you like your horror flicks like Scream?

IM a horror movie fanatic and i didn't find signs scary at all, im too used to the little "suspense" scenes now, very rarely a movie scares me in anyway.

The only film i have ever jumped out my seat at was Jurassic Park when the velocirapter jumps up at lexs' leg when she slips on the roofing. I was 11 at the time. Films just arnt scary these days.

Whaaaaa? In the end, how do you think the Alien died?

Akuma 01-11-2003 08:45 PM

Yeah the whole aliens-die-from-water thing is retarded too. Wouldn't they research the planet they are invading to see that it is 70% water, the smartest beings on the planet are 60% water and can control it. There is water vapor in the air so they couldn't even come out of their ship without a suit or something. hake:

Wha? Did you even see the end of the movie? He knocks water on it and the aliens skin burns off, he then tips water on it from a glass and it dies. Dunno whre you're getting this "injury theory" from as its plainly obvious even for a blind man that water kills them.

erm...water burns their skin off...invade a planet covered 71% (?) with water with frequent rain in many regions

couldn't they have doing something like oh...say...apples?

it may not be water that burns their skin it may be something in tap water that burns them

Art Attack 01-11-2003 09:54 PM

lol! apples! i remember that, the only part that made me jump was in the thearte where the hand comes flying out from under the door! jesus!

ninty 01-11-2003 11:44 PM

I've seen the movie four times.

Watch it at the end when the people are talking on TV.

They talk about a middle east ritual. Nothing about water. I'm sure the middle east ritual isn't spraying water on aliens. Think about t for a minute.

How do you know that the water is FATAL? You don't. The alien got hit in the head ans stomach with a baseball bat numerous times. Water can just add to the beating. There is proof that water hurts them, but no proof it is fatal to them. It could have been the massive blows or the water that actually kills the alien. And actually we don't even see him die. hes lying there breathing heavy...so.

Chango 01-12-2003 12:38 AM

This movie is like all of his other movies, 50% like it 50% hate it

i just got the DVD of it and i was hoping that there would be a deleted scene that said what about the water harms them, but there wasn't i guess i'll just have to check the commentary (if there is one)

Muff Diver 01-12-2003 12:47 AM

This movie was depressingly bad. I've got to remember to never see another Mel Gibson movie again. If you liked this movie, take a piece of paper, in big black letters write the word "DUMBASS" on it, tape it to your back, and walk in front of a train. bigzooka:

Havent seen Signs yet but I have seen The Ring, and although it didtnt completely oOo: me out it still gave me reason to look behind and see if I was still alone biggrin:. Great movie and loved the part when Samsara (or whatever the girls name was) came out of the well and started walking toward the TV biggrin:. I wont spoil it for people who havent seen it yet, lets just say, at that part I did have to check my pants for soilage wink:

Oddball 01-12-2003 08:01 AM

Ring was a better horror movie than Signs, Signgs was a more scary kind of movie about a family trying to pull itself together.

The Ring......I will never look at static on TV ever AGAIN!
