Battle field 1942 its sooo laggy.

Bazooka_Joe 01-13-2003 12:47 PM

I think once they fix the repair platforms/hangars to lower the repair speed the game will be fine.

I haven't played it since before the patch came out. What did it do to the game?

I agree with your first point -- it would be a hell of a lot more fun if people would work together on public servers. That is a very rare event.

The patch really tightened the game up and made it much more playable, too. It was impossible to hit anything with the sniper rifle, and it would take most of a clip to kill someone. Lots of other things, too.

I know the programmers wanted to make the game even on both sides -- but I know one shot from a Tiger tank ANYWHERE on a Sherman would destroy that tank. Similiarly, the Japanese tank would have trouble stopping a .50 cal round nevermind a 75 mm tank round. But I guess the stock game has to be even to keep it fair. Oh well.

What I really hate is how choppy/laggy it is even off-line.

Well looks like they canceld the project for making bf1942 for xbox since bf1942 road to rome just came out.

Bazooka_Joe 01-17-2003 01:08 PM

Road To Rome isn't out yet, they are still developing it, arent't they?

rudedog 01-17-2003 01:15 PM

I think RTR is being released mid Feb. But the Xbox version has been cancelled.

Seeing that BF1942 won the game of the year again its no wonder why some people left Spearhead (like i did) for BF1942.

To answer your question joe it came out already. Here it came out on Jan 15 in California. So its already out.

intrestedviewer 01-19-2003 01:57 AM

I doubt that. They dont even have a set release date, how could they already have released it.

Oddball 01-19-2003 02:10 AM

Netcode needs to be fixed. They should look at games like Tribes that had the same ideas in a way and observe their netcode.

I never lagged bad in Tribes though I never had the patience to understand wtf was going on, map were SO big in that game. All I liked doing was getting in the Shrike and flying around and doing kamakazi's
