I don't see how slavery made the US a rich nation, if anything it made the plantation owners rich. and are you fishing for a ban even though you just got your name back?[/quote:fbc9e] I did'nt make the nation rich, it made as you said the southern plantation owners rich and yes, they did pay taxes however not enough to ellivate the country on a huge scale. Ed just likes talking down to people, its makes him feel bigger than he is. Anyway to get him banned faster Joe? |

For 200 years slavery was rampant across the nation, not just in the Southern states as revisionist history would have you believe. It was on plantations and it was in industry. The jobs that whites didn't want to do, were given to slaves and they were glad to do it. Without having to pay wages to MILLIONS of AMERICANS, the nation enjoyed a nice cushion of profit in it's endeavors. Or do you think it was American innovation that allowed this? As for WAR contributing to Americas rise post-WWI, if you think anything BUT it helped you are sadly out of your mind and in need of more education. You will not find ONE historian to tell you that WWII pulled America out of its depression and has been a leading reason why America has been able to sustain its position at the top of the heap. But then this is just GOD just speaking to the masses again eh GREEN, and you still refuse to admit even the tiniest bit of truth to yourself. Shame really. Fishing for a ban...hardly. |

You also seem to think that only blacks were there doing the jobs the middle-class, or rich people did not want (it was'nt just whites you moron) what about the Irish or the Asians? You are not the smartest man on earth, as you would like to believe, so why not stop telling people that they are stupid and your here to tell them the truth? hake: |
Oh and slavery was only rampant, in the United States of America for 87 years. Before that you can yell at England.
|
Here is my take Ed.
Slavery fueled an agricultural based economy in the south. The weath of America was based in the industrial North. That industry was built on the backs of irish and italian immigrants (among others) that were treated only slightly better than slaves. Americas rise to a superpower was cemented by WWII and fueled by an economy that was forced to expand by the war and fed by a country with a vast land mass rich in natural resources. Yes, slaves fueled a southern economy, but that economy was small in comparision to the north. The end of slavery crushed teh economy of the south, yet the north continued as always. That tells me that slavery was not the force behind the rise of a nation. It was only barely economically viable before the cival war. No, Ed. You are not the only person here to have ever read a book. |

Are you kidding me? What then, Mr. Green, contributed to the success of white-America during the 17 to 1800's. Please tell me that. Cause since you seem to KNOW for a FACT that I am wrong you gotta help me out here. As for WWII and the United States economic recovery... http://www.encyclopediabritanica.com Do a bit of the research through glasses that are anything BUT rose tinted. I think you will find that it is very clear that WAR carried the nation OUT of its depression. Not innovative new business models. Not new thinkings. WAR. |

1 ED your an ass[/quote:88cf7] seems like it today
2 how much did the blacks in Africa make off the rich white southerners when they sold thier own people to them?[/quote:88cf7] my guess is that rival tribes sold each other off, so they didn't technically sell their own people and probably not much
3 do I get reperations because i have family that died freeing the slaves????[/quote:88cf7] probably not |
