Oh yeah, I can hardly wait to die down there! Here, the humidity is almost nothing in the summer. I'm gonna get off the plane July 30, and keel over. Guess I wasn't thinkin when I picked my ship date lol. But maybe it's for the best. After all, "hard training makes for easier combat".

forgot to add, 30 days is a LONG time at reception! A friend of mine is down there right now and he was there a couple of weeks I think. With my luck though, I will be in reception forever too. biggrin:

Have fun, I know I will. It'll be a blast, literally. biggrin: I wish I was leaving earlier, that means get the training over with and I would get out of this God forsaken small town sooner!

I shipped July 10th so you may have a pretty good wait in hold. Also you fucking picked a horrible time to go. The weather down there fucking sucks for how long you'll be there. You'll start out to fucking hot and sweety but by the end of the cycle the weather is freezing ass cold at night. All the gear they give you may look well insulated and comfy, its not. Im the only person i know of to get frost bite in Georgia. Sitting out on guard post after 9/11. I was wearing my PT sweets under my winter BDU's both pair of glove liners, with dress gloves and leather shell, 2 pair of PT socks with a pair of black covering those, wearing my field jacket and field jacket liner. Still got fuckin frost bite on my foot. I was pissed, but never had to do post guard again.

Even worse about your ship time. The Iraqi war will be over before your out of basic. Oh well always N. Korea.

I didnt pick it, they gave it to me because i said ASAP, but i wanna spend some time with family before i left. So the avaliable date they gave me was July 7th (the only free slots open) Plus i hear the weather at parris is diffrent to georgia. It stays more humid because its right on the water.

check refers to like a body check in hockey.

11 Bravo 03-18-2003 11:13 PM

lol. It was either that or god damn August, or some even later than that were the only available slots for Airborne Infantry. So I know I'm fucked either way. Appreciate the heads-up Miscguy. funny, me you and Miller are all talking to each other about the same thing without each of us knowing oOo: .

Navy Basic Training is 8 weeks long (10 weeks if your a dumbass like my brother)

You forgot the Coast Guard! Yea yea they fall under the Department of Transportation but they are still an armed service. They have a 8 week basic training course as well.

My Basic Training was OSUT, which I forgot what it stands for, but it means that BT and AIT are mixed into one program, rather than 8 weeks of basic, then whatever weeks for your MOS. Mine was a total of 18 weeks for 19D, Calvary Scout. We trained alltogether; Regular army, Reserves, and Nat'l Guard.
