well the best ww2 movie of all time is saving private ryan by a longshot, but the best thing to ever happen to television was band of brothers, but since band of brothers isnt a movie i cant say its my favorite.

thin red line was ok but reeeeeeaaaaaaallllllly slow at times

enemy at the gates was cool too but doesnt hold a candle to spr

It's not a wwII movie but A&E's "Lost Battalion" was a good wwI movie. For wwII i have to go with SPR. I really want to see "Band of Brothers" so does anyone know when it comes out on dvd? I checked HBo website but couldnt get any info.

Pearl Harbor was disrepectful to history. It turned a tragic event into an action fest.
I hope in 50 years we dont have movies with people jumping off the WTC and having their guts spilled everywhere.

Ok, first off, whoever said "Thin Red Line sucked".... did not realize what this movie was about. First off it wasn`t about the war, thats why you didn`t like it, it isn`t action. The movie was about humanity, and the setting happened to be World War 2. But anyways besides that, some other good World War 2 classics are movies such as Von Ryans Express (a movie featuring Frank Sinatra), The Bridge at Remagan, The Bridge on the River Kwai (about POWs in a Japanese labour camp who have to build a bridge...), and also the Guns of Navarone, with the sequel named Force 10 from Navarone.

stalingrad

Ive always liked Battleground, Patton is also pretty entertaining, BOB was a cool series that I liked allot. Stalingrad was a very interesting movie, its nice to see things in a diff perspective. I have to see when trumpets fade and cross of iron.

SPR was very cool, but everyone likes SPR, enemy at the gates was alright, but it had allot of hollywoodishness to it. But not horrible. The thin red line just didnt do it for me I was excited about it but I ended up getting very bored with it, and then at the end of the movie I realized I had 2 of the characters confused and thought they were one guy, it kinda ruined the whole thing. Theres so many WW2 movies from the 50's and 60's that are just trash really. Thats what I like about battleground its an old ww2 movie thats actually damn good.

The Longest Day is a good movie as well, it is an older one too.

Lone_Wolf 01-10-2002 08:14 AM

I think the best ww2 movie is Stalingrad.

Das Boot, The Thin Red Line, and Tora Tora Tora are probably my favorites. Also few Polish movies that no one ever heard about.
