Ya still, its better to have more experience than however long it takes with that rifle training.
Obviously Summers and Nitesnipe don't know jack about boot camp... the ones that have the HARDEST at basic/boot are the hillbilly rednecks who learn how to shoot when they are 5...
Want to know why!? Because they create bad habits when they are young and can't break it. You learn what you need to know about a rifle during training.[/quote:0ace5] Your point is well taken. Unfortunately there are too many parents teaching their children the wrong lessons regarding gun safety, and at too early of an age. I was thinking more in terms of the ordinary man, not a soldier, learning proper gun safety in order to be able to safely handle a gun. But what you said does not surprise me at all. |

I told you that! biggrin: |
Not gonna happen, if they do there will be chaos, outlaws will keep their guns and rob unarmed stores for all they're worth.

Having a gun DOES NOT make you safer.
To (roughly) quote the movie "bowling for columbine": "If more guns made it safer, than America would be the safest country in the world, and it is not." Take LA for example, there are probably billions of guns in that city, and the crime rate is through the roof. So, PsychoMerc, you don't really have a point there, because outlaws are still robbing stores, whether there's a gun in the store or not. And having a gun in your house in fact makes you less safe than not having one, as someone could pick up your gun and shot you with it, not to mention the risk of a child thinking the gun is a toy and accidently shooting someone with it. And don't just spit back, "well, just tell the kid to leave the gun alone" because, come on, lets face it, most kids will just want to play with it more, no matter what you tell them, because that's how kids are, curious, and when they get a chance, they will go looking for that gun. My opinion, some degree of gun control is needed. For example, bolt-action rifles for hunting and target shooting are one thing, but M16's and AK47's are another, and should be illegal. Assault rifles and other fully automatic weapons have no real use that can't be just as well filled by a bolt-action or semi-auto rifle, and thus should be illegal. |
Fully Automatic Weapons are banned in the USA ; Clinton did that while he wasn't getting flogged. They aren't really " banned," though, going against what I just said..They're more a long the lines of restricted sales to Civilians, yeah a Civilian can get one, but you need around 80 background checks from different agencies, and you need to take a whopper of a test on safety and percautions of use for a License to own one. No Gangster or thug is going to go through all of that just for an Auotmatic weapon, that's why there's the black market. And you can't ban the black market, now can you? Even if Guns were illegal, they'd still be around. End of Story.

yah but most robberies arent committed with an ak47. There committed with concealable weapons such as a pistol.
|
Concealed Firearms without a license is illegal too. But they still do it, go figure?

[/quote:11ef1] This is actually a pretty STUPID point of view... Bowling for Columbine was a decent flick, but information can be twisted to appeal to any point of view, obviously this trick worked on YOU. The shear amount of guns in America has nothing to do with safety. There are millions of guns in Washington DC, unfortunately all of them are owned by criminals because law abiding citizens in that city cannot legally own firearms for protection. Federal and State law are the only tools which can make gun ownership and use safer and ultimately the streets of our country as well. O live in Virginia and I have a concealed carry permit, I can carry any handgun of my choice concealed to mos tplaces in the state. I'm the responsible owner of many, many firearms and frankly the streets ARE safer because of people like me and laws like the ones we have here... |
good luck trying to get the guns back from the rednecks, they'll fight to the death mwah:[/quote:ed51d]ill join em *picks up mauser* Heil Billy Bob!
|
Oh btw, I can own full-auto M4's, MP5's, HK 53's, you name it, here in Virginia, with two simple forms... For that matter I could own a full-auto M4 with a silencer, night-vision scope, laser and flashlight mount here with the same two forms... (one is ATF the other form is local law enforcement)
Why would I want such a weapon in my home here in suburbia, just 15 minutes outside of Washington DC? Not for home protection, not for hunting, not for the coming of the second revolution (lol) and frankly not anyone's damn business... (ahh freedom...) Maybe I own 50 acres of waterfront property on the Shenandoah River and I like to go down there and camp and shoot with my friends... Either way, it's noones business but mine... =) |
