quote:
Iam building a new computer in the next few weeks... here will be the computer specs:
AMD Athlon 1.2 Ghz 256 megs of RDAM Geforce 2 MX 64 megs 40 gig HD-fast WinME-OS Hopefully this new computer will run the new games I plan on buying this fall...

If your getting a 1.2 Ghz CPU, make sure you get a decent Mobo, if you want a seriously awesome one get the MSI K7T266 Pro R DDR Mobo You can overclock very easily with it and it's very stable. Also make sure you get DDR RAM (PC2100 CAS2) nothing less. You cant go wrong with that RAM. Make sure your Geforce 2 has DDR RAM at 5ns. Hard drive should be 7200 RPM no slower. And dont get Win ME, it's a pile of shit for games, stick with Win98SE or get Windows 2000 or even XP when it comes out. |
That card is too outdated for *-my-* taste.
A GeForce2 for 89$ ? go get it man.. Should get you to run the game comfortably at AT LEAST 800x600... You can always have more RAM http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/biggrin.gif |
oh man, this is the part that makes me smile and say "told you so"
see.... i built my computer about... oh 4 years ago and i always laugh at you people who buy it from a store and just expect it to be awesome. specs are: pII 350 196(i think) megs of ram, dram too! crappy ram! voodoo 2 3000 agp umm, what else dls if that helps which it doenst erm... a rather slow 8 gig harddrive what else is important.... not too much else that really helps FPS and such but simply put,i can still knock the socks off most gamers... good connection speed of around average ping for DOD and CS of 90 or below my frames per second can range from 60 in a good area lowest is 30... now this comp is 4 years old!! and crappy too!!! how the hell do you people buy such peices of crap and not know how to make them work properly!?!!? ok ok, calm down. simply put, take some time... dont buy a computer with an integrated or store-bought video card, they usually find the most expensive one for the amount of power it gives you... which means you pay for nothing. so lets just say, buy it... and config it.. change it the way u need it... dont take the store guys opinions valid in any way, shape or form. if u need help just ask... im more then willing to help you with your problems and.... btw, ATI cards arnt that great, BUT you can get a decent response from them... but you will need to look around... lots of updates and probably need to ask tech support ------------------ ----Savour Since 1982---- |

What kind of system do you have HAL 50000 ??
And really guys when your investing in computer parts you really do get what you paid for. So if you want anything thats gonna run fast, stable and reliable your gonna have to fork out the cash. Buying cheap components will only degrade your system, never buy cheap noname parts, you'll be sorry you did. ------------------ http://www.usmedals.com/prodpix/p295.jpg Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to War and my fingers to fight. |
hmm.... old topic
but meh had to reply. well.. thats usually true to a point.. buy less known stuff and no-name components and ur bound to have it break easily or defective or just be poor quality. BUT, i know from experience that you CAN find really good/decent components for half the regular price.... im talking lesser known stuff... maybe a no-name brand... yep i've bought em before.... they may not have great support... but hey you can always make it work SOMEHOW right? thats half the fun in computers... but yeah i've boughten no name cd burners for cheap, hey they work fine and just as fast... so blah i dont care http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/smile.gif yep, so hey... shop around... ask around... if possible see a test of one working or just get the specs... specs dont usually lie...... ------------------ ----Savour Since 1982---- |
