You can't compare Iraq to america or canada. this place is a fucking war zone...its unlike any other place on earth, and for you to understand it, the only way is to live there. imagine having a dictatorship, then anarchy, then military rule from another country in the united states. We aren't told even half the shit what goes on over there for us to form a fair opinion.

a Baghdadian newspaper which showed anti-american sentiment was banned from publication last week. what happened to freedom of press? obviously no way to teach Iraqis democracy.

I just happened to skim through this thread, and lost alot of respect for almost everyone on this forum. hake:

Old was right about us trying to give them western democracy in an eastern culture. there are so many cultural, religious, and moralistic values that differ and in play here...so a democratic solution in a fundamentalist country is gonna be a tough one. On top of the fact that they were brutalised for 30+ years...then poof...anarchy...its all a massive culture shock for the Iraqis and US.

From what ive heard in the media and read in publications, im of the opinion that these people cannot make a governmental distinction between church and state. They (or a vast majority) want a theocracy.

US doesnt want to see that...thus another breeding ground for fundamental terrorists whom will go about in the guise of theocrats...have an ample recruiting pool (destitution and despondancy will make for a desperate lot willing to do anything for basic necessities, not even touching on nationalistic identity principles eek: ).....

As i see it the US is fucked either way.
