It was nominated for 2 oscars (Sound FX, and Special FX's) in 97, which sadly it was cheated out for by Titanic........Many still consider this one of the worst decisions made by the academy to date. The effects in that movie are better then 95 % of the effects we see in movies today, and help pave the way for future Star Wars Movies. Sure the acting was poor at times, but the effects in that movie alone were fantastic. The movie cost 95 million to make as well. (While Titanic cost 100 million + ). ed:
