That's pretty funny.

What kind of case do you have?

06-21-2005 06:22 PM

Some cheap ass Sony VAIO case, I assumed it was ATX.

I have been thinking about learning more about electronics and stuff. I hear electricians get made MUCH, since it's a dangerous job, aye?

im pretty sure that ATX just is what size of motherboard it uses. has no relationship to the powersupply. but yeah that sucks...why dont you just go out and buy like a $20-50 case that will fit your shit? run to a computer store and buy a cheap one, it will be better than the viao at least.

I will do that, or just put in a support for the current PSU so it doesnt have to lean on the CPU Heatsink (or heatsink protector).

Also, I bought PC2700 RAM, but they sent me PC3500 RAM, SCHWEET!

Heh, all the games run so fucking well on the x800 Pro, I suggest if you are planning on upgrading, get this card (Sapphire Radeon x800 Pro - $289).

No real excuse for it though, if the performance is not upto par they should hold back till they have drivers that can cut the mustard.

The numbers ive seen for the 7800 are around 7900-8000 in 3dmark 2005, which obviously isn't faster than sli'd ultras.

Guess we'll see tomorrow what the story is though.

Single GTX is right around a 6800U SLI, sometimes beating it, sometimes not. It's right around 50% faster than a 6800U. 7800GTX SLI is pretty impressive though.

The new AA modes are interesting... Glad to see nvidia implemented them and they are actually usable in every game with decent performance.

I'm interested to see what the R520 can do if it ever comes out.

Can a boy get some pics of the aa on railings?

Well r520 has been "respun" to increase yields, it'll be out later this year and most likely have 32 pipelines which will give it a big boost over the gtx. Im assuming nvidia will come out with a 32 pipe card as well. As for sli, overall ati's crossfire seems to offer more in the longrun, more antialiasing modes plus tile based rendering.

I really think ati are a victim of their own success with the 9700, that came out and it was a massive turnaround in the market, before that there was no real mass demand for ati boards in the market, now there is and they're finding it harder to deliver, plus theyre making the graphics core for the xbox. Kind of the same situation nvidia was in with the nv30, they were doing the xbox gpu and things started slipping. Shoudl still be good to see how nvidia responds to the 32 pipe card. beer:

Not railings but same basic idea, this also applies to stuff like vegetation in games like farcry, basically anything 2d i think.

You considering buying one of these cards? Im reading a lot of good and bad posts on it, lot of people saying its just a stop gap so nvidia can say they have the fastest single card. eek:

I dunno... I was hoping for more. The performance isn't bad... It's a nice little jump but I don't think it's worth $600 if you have a 6800/X800.

I'll definitely wait for the R520 to decide. Unless it's no where near being out by the end of summer, then I might get 7800GTX sli...

geRV 06-22-2005 08:52 AM

Think i'll start saving my cash for my upgrades. Anytime i buy a new card when it arrives i open the box, look at it and think "is that it"? This time around its a new motherboard, cpu and gfx card so more wallet raping. annoy:
