He probably does sets with 40-60, depending on whether it's endurance, strength or power training. When I was in my power phase, I used 50's for 3x6-8... and I'm not even taking steroids.

am i the only one who is repulsed by that photo?

I am quite sure he is doing more then 30, Those little ones on the bell = 30 per weight. (I think they are some sort of ultra heavy small form of weights, I have no clue, I always use plain old cast iron...), so if those little ones were 30 each.. 30x 2 + 10 = 70pds each hand = fucking good. The sad part is doing bicep curls with free weights can sometimes be doing next to nothing for your arms seeing as many people start throwing there back into the lift when really they should just be using their arm... Improper Technique/Lifting/Breathing = the biggest killer of most new comers workouts. I can get more out of 30 minutes of training then most people get in a full hour and a half.

no, the 30 indicates it is a 30 lb dumbbell. To put it into perspective, this guy only works out with 75 lb dumbbells:
And he is one of the strongest men in the world pound for pound, so I doubt Carrot Top is curling 70 lb dumbbells. oOo: The deal with curls is not the amount of weight, but rather how compact your arm movement is, and how well you are using your bicep muscle and nothing else to pull the weight up and contract the muscle. |
He's holding 30lbs in each hand, period.
Oh, and I've seen much higher than 75lbs per arm man... some people don't look very nice (esthetically speaking) but they're monsters. |
