I won't deny it...but its a better system than a private one that shuts out some 40 odd million people who don't have insurance, and when those people who don't have insurance have to go to the hospital they end up paying 2 or 3 times the given amount. Private health care has its benefits but I'll keep my public health care system..gotta love american media rolleyes:

I know Canada's system is messed, I didn't deny it and am not shy of talking about it. I put american media in there because they don't show the OTHER side of the arugment...why is our health care system faulty you ask..Because currently the government is attempting to cut its debt (500 billion) and unfortunately is spending more on defense which I find unecessary...well what does this mean? LESS MONEY FOR HEALTH CARE...and with Harper in power the conservatives are going to fuck the system up allowing a two tier health care system which will end up like the mess in England..

From the arguements coming from Stackem you seem to only know the "oh your health care blows because of waiting times argument" which is ONLY ONE SIDE OF THE ISSUE..see what I mean when I say that Americans don't know anything about our politics? I'm pretty sure you don't care either but if you wish to continue debating this topic look all the issues up..please.

if waiting is only 1 side it is a HUGE side. I will look up more on this but to have a person waiting in pain for years for a simple procedure is VERY messed up. Yes hip replacement is a simple procedure. A good surgeon can have it done in little more than an hour.

and the 40 million Americans without insurance argument is always iffy with me as well. Contrary to press reports of gloom and doom. Hospitals do not turn people away. In fact they do tons of free work for people that can't afford it.

I won't deny that folks put off having work done because they can't afford it ... heck, I have insurance and I don't go to the doctor because I don't want to pay deductibles and co-pays ... but if a person truly needs something and can't afford it there are ways for them to have the work done (i.e. various charity groups, etc)

My brother needed braces to help with his front teeth coming in. (he had surgery when he was 3-4 years ago to remove his baby teeth, another set of teeth, some bone chips all in front of his adult teeth)

Well he needed the braces to get his front teeth in and it cost over $4000. my parents dental would only cover half of it, they would have had to pay the extra $2000, which no way could they afford.(both my parents are medically retired due to car accident injuries(dad) and disease(mother).

The doctor said they would only charge my mom the amount their insurance would cover and she wouldnt have to pay anything.

Don't think that people just have to pay up or gtfo here in america, when it comes to health insurance
