I doubt it, you're the guy who actually believed that all rap was gangster rap, and wrote the entire genre off because of that. I hardly believe youre going to have more eclectic taste than anti.[/quote:ac83f] You’re right. After all I believe that music should require musical instruments in order to be classified as music. Oh silly of me! But obviously it’s the intellectually stimulating lyrics which I am missing out on. After all how, does she fit that fine ass into those tight jeans?[/quote:ac83f] ....and there it is, its pretty hard to be that ignorant about music - but you do a pretty damn good job - Fucking tosser... rolleyes:[/quote:ac83f] The only that has changed about rap music in the past 25 years of it’s existence is the fashion. The genre is bland at best. How can you embrace something which is nothing more than profanity laced poetry? The best lyricist in rap music couldn’t hold a candle to Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Elliott Smith or even Joe Strummer and David Byrne. |

thats like me saying 'rock is pathetic' then quoting some britney spears song... you would say "britney spears isnt rock"... but it is, its popular rock as started more or less by the beatles. now i would never characterize a genre based on what i hear on the radio or mtv, but you go ahead and knock yourself out. its just a pity you are missing out on a great genre. also, many of the rap artists i listen to use a live band in their albums and almost all of them use a live band while touring. |

Ok. But really why would I have any desire to look up indie rap, when 95% of all rap which I am exposed to sucks?

Exit is the best album of 2003...period. Indie rap > indie rock btw. Brother Ali's new album owns...the latest album ive hard anyways from an underground artist. |
He sounds like Eminem mixed with old Black Eyed Peas.... sleeping:
But Neon Bible is easily the best CD so far this year. |

Havoc - How can you say you're a fan of music when you refuse to engage with it? I can tell you after years and years of enlightening "rock fans" to the beauty of alternative hiphop, that youre probably the most hairbrained out of all of them, not to mention the quickest to show how niave you are. I seem to remember when you asked me to put a list of ten rap artists that use live instruments - I did, and you acknowledged the post - So why are you now back with that tired old argument that has already been thrown in your face on these forums? Do you like to be proved wrong or did a rapper kill your family or something? Whats with the prejudice. If you're a true music fan, and not just someone that likes music - Then you'll go ahead and smack yourself in the head now for being so narrow-minded. Open your head up, and turn off MTV - Not all music is on TV, none of the 1,000s upon 1,000s of credible rap acts arent either, and that is because the commercial music industry markets to stupid fuckers who only buy nickelback, and chamillionaire albums. These are for the most absolute general audience with no taste, because they have a larger appeal than more definitive music that is found in the alternative or underground world. Would you like me to write up a list of rap acts that refuse to conform to what your idea of the genre is? Prepare to do alot of scrolling though, because the list will be huge. |
