Unfortunately there seems to be a bit of confusion on the aims and methods of my new fixes. Unfortunately I must step out for a bit, however below is some info cut from the other thread that might give you some more info. I'll add a real post once I get home in an hour or so. :) Thanks BB for posting about it not kicking folks and trying to clear this up.
The new mod doesn't actually kick anyone for anything. What it can do right now related to this is: 1) Force the client to have force models On or Off 2) Force the client to use a particular skin for Allied/Axis Admins will be able to configure it any which way, and I will be working on more options for filtering. Right now it's pretty basic, brute force so to speak, but even with just those two options it gives the admin several possibilites. |
So if you change it so that, say the "US Army" model is forced by the server, the cheater simply renames their bright skin to the same as the US Army guy.
|
I for one dont mind having my skin switched, but I will also ask admins to add certain skins to there server, go to rude's aa.com server site, those jap skins rock
|
gone too far... seriously come on. soon were all going to have to use the same key map cause some asshole thinks that having keys binded is a cheat.. even though alot do. just leave the game.. and also by putting this little mod of urs up.. wont that just make everyones skins they put so much hard work into worthless? were destroying something we use to enjoy, well i still enjoy making player skins and using them.
|
I will be using forced models on the AA.com game server, but will also keep an updated number of skins on the server, unless you want to use Glow in the dark skins then you don't have to worry.
When the time comes ( when we start using this mod and I will let everyone know ) send me an email with the skins you wish to use and I will up them to the server. Thus not effecting your skins, as long as they are not glow in the dark skins. so no need to worry Zoner, You will still be able to use your custom skins as long as I have a copy of them on the server. WOW, that almost sounds like "who's on first" skit by Abbot and Costello oOo: |
DogMeat should get paid for all he's been doing for us.
|
Thanx rude, man. I'd be all for that. I don't care if the server picks a skin for me, so long as I can use Force Models.
I use the Canadian skins for the Allies...that's really the only custom skin I use. Here's the link so you can add it to the server whenever you do that stuff: http://www.alliedassault.com/pafiledb/p ... ile&id=262 Cheers, Zone |
Yes, whats been said recently is much better than my original perception. I still dont think that will be the kind of mod that makes it to our server. Like I have said before, you can paint me any color you want, you still have to shoot me before I shoot you.
|
The best use of this mod as far as I can tell would be for clan matches. It is a sure way to make sure that there is no advantage gained by either side. I like the idea of this mod in the above capacity but I think for gameplay that's just for fun i think its a bit over the top. Anyway.. as usualy... there's my penny's worth of thought.
|
I think those nades are foolish, and should be taken from the files. As for the weapons, this dosen't bother me, because like Strik0r said, you can just turn off Full Models in options to hide the rifle.
You guys have to remember, Dodd dosen't check every single file that is sent to AA.COM, so he can't be responcible for upping a mod that can be considered unfair. |
Well , Well...well...
Seems we are yet tightening the reighns on our favorite game. Axis have always had the superior models for many purposes in the game. Pure disadvantage right off the bat. I for one really dont care in normal gameplay..but with clan matches, im all for it. Thats when it counts. For regular gameplay...its a little over the top. Its not a cheat, yet we are now policing it. I always use the standerd skins....dont like much of any others. but i hate the disadvantage the allied skins pose when compared to the axis. reality, yes....but again...its just a game. lighten up guys :) |
Miscguy what the fucks wrong wit me transparent weapons??? u can only see it if u download it anyway and if you do dont u think not being able to see weapons as much is going to be a disadvantage to the user?? plain and simple if u dont like it, dont download it.
|
now that i think about this..it will be funny to see who doesnt keep playing on the servers with this mod in place. or if they do..how much there godlike numbers will be affected by this. i think i wanna see certain people play on these servers still as long as you guys can guarentee this mod wont be useless after one day. haha.

The problem with transparent weapons is that you have nothing blocking your field of vison. So say with a panzersheck that huge plate on the front is non exsistant. The lower corner of the screen is seen now not blocked by a weapon increasing your field of view. At the time of posting i was unaware that you could turn off weapon models all together. Now knowing that information transparent weapons are not as big of a cheat but i still wouldnt consider them un-lame. If you want to have weapon models you should pay the price of having the blocked view. If you do not want weapon models for frame rate reasons or other then fine. Perhaps you've hit on a medium of having weapon models without the disadvantages, rather than simply turning the models off. But doesnt that sound wrong to anyone else? Having an element without any of that elements disadvantages. |
