I don't claim to have the perfect mod, nor the perfect modding ability. However, by the math that was supplied to me to figure the ROF, that's how the mod was rendered. So the BAR and STG both have the math figured at 60/500 which comes to .12. I left it at that and don't really care to try and figure it any differently. If you know of a more accurate way of calculating the way the engine figures the ROF, then I'm all ears. Most comments I got regarding the STG, however, were that of people happy to see it wasn't completely out of control like it was in CKR. I personally would have been happy originally left it similar to CKR if it weren't for that fact.

Pest, you went ahead and made that assumption I mentioned before about how this was about all of you. Sorry you had to be the first and now find yourself agreeing with Ed. No one cares if you're missing out on AAN, but we're not about to take bad mouthing about how we run things when the only experiences come from those who didn't like us to begin with.

Man, if I lived by that philosophy, I would've given up ages ago. biggrin:

Personally, I really couldn't give a rat's ass about my score or anyone else's score. If you came on the server and got 132-9, I might say "Wow, gerv, that's impressive!"...same response if you scored 9-132.

People get too caught up in numbers. I know that most of the guys I play with feel the same way about scores. Just relax, unwind, and shoot some friends...is that so wrong?

Well, at least we are all in agreement. I will follow zoner's lead and bow out of this thread.

nomar 04-04-2003 02:39 PM

Well said Zonemiester. I stay up way later than I should playing with the AAN crew because it's so much fun to me. I wake my wife up because I'm laughing so hard and chatting with the guys in TS. That's what AAN is all about and that's what AA.com was all about.
That's also why I stopped posting here so long ago because of all the drama and flame wars. This thread just got me going.

That's why I tried playing more BF1942, but the lack of teamwork is so incredibly apparent in that game that it's just frustrating to even try. But I agree, there's too much "score" in MOH and I find myself not playing just because of that. My frustration comes at being good, but not scorewise. I get frustrated by dieing too much. Could care less if the numbers are high, but I'd rather stay alive longer then find myself waiting to respawn.

Here's a pic of the night I was introduced to KaoS. Bleu took a pic of me blowing myself up with some nades. biggrin:

Captain_McCusker 04-04-2003 03:04 PM

I didn't know Bleu was in DOA. Of coarse, I don't think I was hanging out that much on aa.com back then, and my first KaoS experience was a couple months after I found aa.com.

Doh! Sorry, Bleu, I said KaoS heh, I meant DOA. biggrin:

I remember the ownage by Soviet the most. He was so damn good. I asked him what he did and he said higher resolution on his monitor helped. I upped mine from 1024x768 to 1182x862 and liked it. The dude could drop you from across the map with an unscoped KAR sniper. Since talking with him about it, I've been all bolt action all the time.

We had some good times on aa.com.

I dare you to play him now, you'd be suprised what you will find.

Meaning? He's even better now or he sucks?

Zoner 04-04-2003 03:22 PM

How so, tog? Has he gotten BETTER?!?!

Sweet jeebus...help us all if he has.

KTOG 04-04-2003 03:23 PM

Lets just say he's been playing a little too much BF and too little MoH

I love j00 sovieT!

nomar 04-04-2003 03:23 PM

And if I could edit my post, it would say that I now play at 1152x864 oOo:

Pyro 04-04-2003 03:28 PM

I like BF, but only when we can get a decent amount of people to actually work together. I can't say the graphics are as nice, though. But I suppose you have to have some sort of trade off when the game almost requires more people then MOH.

Tog, are you saying that Soviet's becoming n00bified by BF when he comes back to MOH? I can see how that could happen, but it's a damned shame.

Colonel 04-04-2003 03:35 PM

I remember when Blu was in DOA! BTW - good pic Joe! ROFL I remember that too! Strange how this old brain works, I remember that stuff but can't remember to zip my fly. oOo:

Bleuachdu 04-04-2003 03:54 PM

Ahhh these last few posts have been more of what I was looking for. Good times

nomar 04-04-2003 03:57 PM

So speaking of the old aa.com days... whatever became of Chuddy Bear and El Presidente Fidel Castro? Are those guys still around?

AS far as I know, they're both in AM.

ED! Ban #126 04-04-2003 04:04 PM

Hope this is my last post on this topic as well...

Final thoughts on the subject...PEST is right when he says there are far too many reactionary members on AAN. It seems all you have to do is tell the wrong joke, or make the wrong comment, and a group of folks are ready and willing to come down on you. It's not an isolated incident as already you have 3 members of this community with stories about a bad experience they have had, not with the group in general but with a bunch of guys jumping to conclusions. This aint to say this is all done purposely, but you HAVE to look at the situations and at least see that yes - there might be too few short fuses on the LLC and OTD teams.

As far as the crap talking is concerned - it IS done, and I HAVE heard enough of it. So when someone comes at me in a public forum purporting to being something they are NOT...thats when you get the jerky asshole responses from me. The one that sticks out in my mind is the "hack and slash" of Strik0r that went on durin OP CENTER play.

Having said that, you'll never truly emulate the carefree attitude that RUDE"s server had because you have far too many people with the ability to "push the button", and too many short-fused guys exercising that right.

Oh well.

Colonel 04-04-2003 04:32 PM

[quote="ED! Ban #126":021de]there might be ... short fuses on the ...OTD teams.[/quote:021de]

Unfortunately that's what happens when you get old...and my temper is shorter than it used to be too! ed:

I almost forgot about Chuddy Bear! Dang he used to be there all the time.

Another thing we haven't done in awhile is have "quick draw" matches! biggrin: Anybody remember that map that had the storage tank on it that would shake when you shot it? LOL good times.

Old Reliable 04-04-2003 04:34 PM

yeah man that silent secret map or whatever it was.......

Bleuachdu 04-04-2003 04:39 PM

I miss my laser crosshair oOo: We all play 100% stock now, since everyone screams "hacks" when they get beat on. Yes Chuddy and Castro are both still active and in aM. Castro's even in the screenie I posted earlier of c0v getting whoooped. Those are some of the guys that scream "aimbot!".

wintersforge 04-04-2003 04:40 PM

broken silence and algiers were the sites of the pistol contests...

Shakes21 04-04-2003 04:58 PM

I'm not sure now whether I'm more pathecic for reading this entire thread or responding to it. You be the judge. I like the AAN server. My bike likes the AAN server. Collectively their isn't a better group of people I know of.( although I also think PMOH is a close second.) I don't care what on line game you play. If you don't play with friends whats the sense of playing at all. You might as well play SP. I consider AAN one big friend.

Old Reliable 04-04-2003 05:02 PM

aan is great, but if you're an asshole play somewhere else

Wow. No wonder you in the OTD.

No offense of course.

Hollywood 04-04-2003 05:38 PM

What I don't understand is how most of you think aa.com's server was so much better. The same policies applied...no swearing, TK'ing, hacking blah blah. When someone swore, they were always told to watch the language. When they argued the rules, they were told to abide or go to another server. Believe me, I've seen WF go into the same thing you are accusing us at AAN of doing. This happens when admins are tired of dealing with the same crap over and over again. When you admin a server you can tell us how to run one. And not some small unkown one either. Rude was the same way, he didn't put up with any crap, and neither did I.

Yup. Me too Woody. It really is the same as Rude's server in that respect. And yes we do have a short fuse, that's how we keep it fun for the regulars who respect the rules - minimal interference by the non-conformers!

ED! Ban #126 04-04-2003 05:54 PM

The difference isn't in modding style. I see it in atmosphere.

I think ALOT of people here who have had "problems" will till you that there is a strong difference in atmosphere than there was on RUDES server.
