I've read threads I've been interested in and didn't post. It all depends on what that person's personality is, if they feel like reading, etc if they post or not...not what country they're from.

What type of answer are you looking for Ninty? We're being brainwashed or something? Come on, be real.

I think we're just curious as to why no one seems to care about this...especially Americans. I mean, since it interests me and other Canadians, why wouldn't it interest Americans? For the most part its just me and mach and strvs, so i guess were the only really interested ones. Actually I think merlin posted in here as well, so he gets the title of FIRST AMERICAN TO POST IN THIS TOPIC, but i'll have to check on that.

It would probably interest Americans more, I would think, but maybe that assumption is wrong. I don't know.

Edit:
Sgt. Paine is the first non canadian to post in this thread! Congrats to him! I think he's american too, so we get two birds with one stone... American and non canadian! oOo:

So yeah...i should be an investigative reporter.

your average man on the street doesn't care very much about america's external policies. Most don't even watch the news. Most of the kids in my highschool either don't care or they follow the beliefs imposed on them by their parents that america is always doing the right thing.

Ferich 02-22-2005 07:37 PM

Or they accept the fact that in their position they can't do anything about their Governments policies besides complain and other limited options that end up all the same; the policies still in place, or changed with more things to complain, etc about now.

but they can be changed. If people cooperate like they did in the 1960's they could bend the government to change these policies. But the times have changed and most people will think you're some crazy liberal who wants to destroy american values.

ninty 02-22-2005 07:46 PM

I agree.

All i'm saying is I scratch my head when the masturbation threads get 100 posts in 2 hours, while posts that are somewhat more important, or should be precieved as more important aren't very popular. I guess if I wanted responses on these types of issues i should visit some kind of political board or something instead of a gaming site populated by mostly kids under the age of 17.

Merlin122 02-22-2005 07:50 PM

mind you, i'm only 16

ninty 02-22-2005 07:52 PM

I know. I'm not saying 16 or 15 or 13 year olds can't be interested, or be knowledgable in the subject. However, the majority of those of that are are not in this topic, nor are they anywhere in the history or political threads.

The majority of people are here to goof off in offtopic, no matter what the age.

Merlin122 02-22-2005 07:59 PM

I stay up at night thinking about what I could do to rally my fellow americans and topple the neo conservative policies that plague our nation today. But looking at places like my school and at my comrades in youth, it is seemingly impossible to start any kind of mass protest, or even a comparitvely simple petition. Unless someone thinks of something revolutionary then we're all screwed.

Maplegyver 02-22-2005 08:02 PM

start putting up posters of propaganda at you school. i did that once at my school, just when we were voting for headboy. our posters called for the studenets to vote for cabbage. we got about 120 votes
happy: mind you we were suspended for a week.

Ferich 02-22-2005 08:02 PM

Every site has at least a few dummies,...some more than others. Americans aren't responsible for all of the bullshit on this site though, which I think you know anyways. Teenagers aren't either.

You can't expect everyone, especially the pool of unintelligent morons on the internet, to be interested in everything you think they should be or want them to be. And that fact applies in real life too.

Good point. Not to mention the fact that I've been following this thread since it started and downloaded 3 or 4 of the videos. It doesn't mean I'm not interested or don't have an opinion. I just don't post very much, I've always been that way.

I'll give you my thoughts as to why there have been very few posts in this thread:

Primarily, not many people frequent the Politics & History forum. Its still fairly new and I think it used to be hidden to only registered users.

Next, this thread is a powder keg. It's a thread filled with videos that have many negative connotations about America... started and kept alive by Canadians. Whether or not the videos have merit is not the question; rather their content and who's posting them. Regardless of affiliation (liberal conservative... whatever) when a foreigner somehow portrays your country negatively, even if indirectly, that person will likely take offense on some level. There have been several shining examples of this. In the OTBS forum, we've had far to many knee-jerking, flame-throwing, poop-slinging Canada vs. America threads. Each "side" has their own hypercritical disparaging nitpicker; my guess is that no one wants to turn this into another pointless battle.

Finally, those videos are friggin huge if you didn't notice. Some take upwards of an hour to download and another hour or so to watch. If I had more time I may spend it here keeping up on this stuff, but my life and responsibilities demand much more time than I'd like.

Machette 02-22-2005 08:45 PM

The videos take me only 20 minutes to download, guess its my connection. But Ferich nailed it right on the dot, most people on this fourm to say the least don't have a good spike of intelligence to understand some of the subjects in these videos, and Bleuachdu underlined another good on about America vs. Canada falme wars which to me are pretty useless since it cannot underline anything significant...maybe world power and military mite.. But on to some more videos ninty rock:

ninty 02-22-2005 09:05 PM

I'll be the first one to admit that the videos i have put up are leftist, liberal or whatever else you want to call them. I'm definetly on the left side of the spectrum, and these videos interest me. If there are videos of other political opinion that anyone wishes to see let me know and i'll take a look for them. I don't have a problem with that.

When I started the thread, I PM both Coleman and Noctis, because I knew both of them are Conservatives. I invited them to take a look at the videos if they wanted and then I wanted their opinion. Both said that they would look into the videos, but I haven't heard back from them since a couple weeks ago. I think there are many people here able to engage in a civil conversation on these topics.

Basically it starts out from the 50's and how the islamic terrorists came to be. It also talks about the cold war and how that played a role in the conservative view basically from the 50's up to 2000 where we see islamic fundamentalists and new conservatives. i'll upload the others if you want them, but it will have to wait a day or two.

Bleuachdu 03-01-2005 01:27 PM

ooooh what kind of business plan? that's right up mein alley.

ninty 03-01-2005 04:17 PM

happy:

You want to write it for me Bleu?

I'm taking Bachelor of Applied Business and Entrepreneurship with a Major in Small Business and this summer we have to start up our own business. I've taken a whole class where 100% of your mark is your business plan. That sucked. Had to ahve something like 300 hours of research to back everything up. Needed statistics of all kinds and financial records and everything. It was a real business plan. I did the class on a landscaping company. What i'm doing here is really a condensed version of that plan except the business i'm starting is a house painting company that also has ties with local businesses. So i'll be painting houses and i'll get some contract work from some companies as well. Basically I ahve to write up a short business plan with all my markets and everything, as well as include some goals and things, and marketing and legal aspects etc. I think the harder part will be the financials. I need detailed financials on all my equipment and everything. And I still haven't really started yet.

Due on Friday at 2pm. dance:

=================

9-11 on Trial

Victor Thorn & Lisa Guliani

In March, 2005, WING TV will present “9-11 on Trial,” which will examine the government’s explanation of events following the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. Specifically, the focal point of these proceedings will be: did burning jet fuel cause the collapse of each World Trade Center tower? A subsequent trial in mid-to-late 2005 will take into consideration whether Flight 77 – a Boeing 757 – struck the Pentagon.

To prosecute this case, we are going to rely solely on verifiable scientific data of the highest order (as opposed to the obvious pitfalls associated with “theory”). In this sense, our focus will be exclusively directed at the CAUSE of the towers’ collapse, and not any peripheral SYMPTOMS.

We are engaging in this project for two primary reasons: (a) to counteract a “black hole” of sorts that has engulfed previous and/or current 9-11 lawsuits, all of which seem to be squashed, in limbo, or severely compromised; and (b) to show that this case can be proven in a court of law relying solely on verifiable scientific facts, physics, and the laws of nature.

At this point we have amassed mountains of data, but if anyone would like to submit material which fits the above-mentioned criteria, their contributions are most certainly welcome.

“9-11 on Trial” promises to be an historic event, for we will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt – in a courtroom setting for all the world to see – that the government’s explanation of events were nothing more than bold-faced lies. More details to follow by month’s end.

Financials, forecasting, cost-accounting etc... all suck. Thats easily the most tedious part of a business plan. Sounds like you're writing an executive summary or something similar? Business planning = l337. Best of luck.

ninty 03-02-2005 01:26 PM

Executive summary will be part of it yeah. I'm probably gonna be working on this thing all night.
