Games generally aren't about whats popular at the time, gta is a big exception to this. If it were then more games would have elements of whats popular in "the real world".

Rockstar found a cashcow in gta and are exploiting it as best they can, good for them. Fact is they could do a lot more with the pc ports but don't, this is the 3rd pc port of gta that will most likely not have any kind of multiplayer mode. Cheap cashin that anyone with any sense will download.

I think you'll find that GTA isn't much of an exception, console gaming is alot different to PC gaming - because of demographic, game companies can rely on what's popular to sell a game - Look at big games like Tony Hawk's line-up, Def Jam games, GTA series, etc

....And when Doom 3 moves to xbox - You'll lose mods and expansions. Just part of the limitations of the console platform. That's why games being ported from console to PC usually turn out shit....Because they can't be fucked adding shit for the PC version that was unavailable for the console because of the limitations. So yeah, the PC version is basically just a little cashcow that the gaming companies have....

I guess they just don't wanna fork out more cash just so the PC market can have multiplayer.

That being said, GTASA is a console game. It was made with consoles in mind. That's the only platform it's going to be worth any money on.

Xbox doom 3 comes with single player co-op mode, doom 3 on the pc never really got any mods for it because of lack of support from iD.

Tony hawks, wouldn;t really say skateboarding is a "big thing" anywhere really, it has its popularity to a degree but nothing like rap or anything like that, def jam, i dunno wtf that is even besides a game. ed:

Skateboarding was when it first came out, of course - Plus look at the way you could dress up the skaters in "cool popular clothing," the music was a huge part of it too....And of course because of that it sold huge....So then they keep making the games to get the cash...Nowadays it isn't as popular, but thats the way it goes.
Notice how as soon as Bam Margera, CKY, Jackass etc became huge, they threw him in the next game asap....He hadn't been in any of the previous games...And as rap grew more popular they added more of it in the soundtrack....

Def Jam is a huge rap label, like the first one ever, from the early 80s.
The games (I think there are 2 or 3 now) are basically wrestling games where the characters are all popular rappers.

Now the basic trend I see in all these games is that they are all originally designed for consoles....Also because of the simplicity of a console in comparison to a PC, you get a younger demographic involved too...This is the market for these games...

i havent done any of the licenses. i ported over my gt3 data and cash. i didnt feel like doing 23432 stop and go test. so far ive been ripping through the small time beginner and japan races; trying to make enough cash to buy something decent in the a class section. i love this game so far (with the exception of a few glitches).

Short, could you explain this to me? I'm confused as to why a manufacture would require additional licensing to show damage? Once the gaming company purchases the licensing, why can't they show a honda with a crushed hood? It's still a Honda none the less.
