Because you never know when you'll run into a problem that can only be solved by cutting things. |

yeah, cutting things with scissors is a pretty common day to day activity. |

Those are Klein electrician scissors. I use them every day while working on telephone systems. Lots of wires to cut. They also have notches on one side so I can strip the insulation off wire.
I can cut a penny in half with them. |

Nyck, most severe violent crimes against mulitple people occur in "good areas" just as you stated. Some skell isn't gonna rob the local kentucky fried chicken knowing there may be armed people inside. He'll just go to your town and victimize you knowing you feel safe in your community thereby not arming yourself. I live in a really nice area but there is a rash of home invasions and conveinence store robberies close by in other nice areas. The guys doing all this don't live in the areas they're hitting. Nice communities make easy targets. Don't walk the earth with blinders on.

And since you don't know me, let me say i'd never try to be a "hero" and/or risk others. Having a gun or knife evens the teams for me. If i'm reduced to no other choice, i'm either cutting or shooting my way out, it's that simple. If some guys wanna rob a place i'm in and it's just that, a robbery, then i'll be a good witness. I'm not going to confront them. And, as a matter of fact, i have a "throw wallet" for just that. (if you don't know what a throw wallet is, just ask a cop, he'll tell you) They'll get my throw wallet with some money in it but thats it. If they get a lil' buck nutty and start to shoot up the place, then i'm forced to do whatever it takes to get out alive. Say what you will but never judge someone you don't know.....and you don't know me. |
that's a cool site.
I live in a really nice neighborhood, http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/genInfo. ... ndex=25438 But I don't think the neighborhood you live in can make the difference. I know suburbs aren't gonna be nearly as dangerous as cities and what not, but what I'm saying is, if you live in a nice neighborhood that is close to a city or a bad neighborhood, crime can still affect you either when you commute their for work, entertainment, etc, or if the crime comes to you like arkan said, because "good communities" are good targets. I think you're in more danger in some areas, but I think there is always danger of crimes being committed anywhere, you're never gonna be able to say you are absolutely safe to the point where you know you'll never need protection. |
by the two posts you made saying "you cant stop a robbery with your ipod" and now the 2nd one above mine it just seemed like you had this mentality of using your gun to become the hero. i can understand if you're caught in a position where you must resort to using your weapon, but any other cases would just be inane to me. i may be wrong to have assumed but your comments in the beggining lead me down that path so you can stop playing that you dont know me card.

I couldn't find Marquette Park on that website, I guess its just part of Chicago but we all call it Marquette park because the park is near buy (its the Central Park equivalent of New York City - high crime area).

My parents 7 years ago bought this house for 600k, now i bet from seeing that the small houses in my town are selling for 1.2 mil, i bet we could sell this close to 1.6mil. After we do that, they buy me a nice car. and we call it a day. |
Don't you have a small child.. and you carry around a gun with you, doesnt make sense to me.

it's the same way here in Northern Virginia, you buy a house for $500k, in four years it's over a million. McLean, Vienna, Falls Church, all those places have really rich people and the area is booming in the housing markets, and the public schools in NoVA are some of (if not) the best in the country. I drove down this one road near DC, but it's in McLean and saw the Prince of some Arab country's house, it was huge, had a giant wall and gate, it looked like it was out of the movies, and no doubt it cost at least $3 mil. |

I have no idea if you're referring to me but i don't see your logic. What does having a kid have to do with anything? You mean parents of kids should turn in their firearms because it doesn't make sense?? I'm lost, please explain. |
This thread turned fucking retarded quick enough. oOo:

True, it has remained civil and flame free. People are entitled to their opinions whether you agree with them or not.
|
The thread was originally what do you carry with you, not discuss the moral obligations of carrying a sidearm. Not entirely suprising that some people do carry pistols about with them so i expected the debate to break out at some point anyway.
