Swedan compared to Latvia is a big difference.

Sgt>Stackem 02-15-2006 06:43 PM

there are many good teams in the olympics, dont be surprised if a few upsets happen. Take off the maple-colored glasses, this isnt a cake walk

TonyMontana 02-15-2006 07:33 PM

We especially can't turn our backs on our next game against Germany. They looked really good out there against the Czech's. The game could have gone either way up until 2 minutes left in the 3rd.

Zoner 02-15-2006 07:42 PM

I'm working from home tomorrow so I'll get to see the Canada/Kraut game. LEEEET!!

Frustrated, Begg-Smith quit freestyle skiing when he was 15, but regained interest in 2001 when he met Steve Desovich, a longtime Canadian coach who left to work with the Australian team in 1999. Begg-Smith and his older brother, Jason, got dual-citizenship and began competing for Australia in 2003-04."

I know you guys all like hockey, but I've been watching Women's Curling. I know it is nothing more than shuffle board on ice but it looks fun. Plus, The Johnson sisters on the USA team are pretty hot. It's playing on USA network right now.

Zoner 02-17-2006 08:35 AM

Curling is a great sport. It gets undue ridicule from the States, but the rest of the world is big on it (well, the colder countries anyway).

It's a blast to play. A lot harder than it looks.

TonyMontana 02-17-2006 01:21 PM

haha, sweden women knocked out USA in the women's hockey semi's

Canada just won a gold AND silver in the men's skeleton!! rock: rock: rock:

It's actually the most-watched event at the olympics.

The Italians love it especially because it's similar to the Italian game Bocce

I love curling, it must be the CBC influence as a child. Waaaaaaay back when you had an antenna on your TV CBC was one of the about 10 channels we got

Sgt. Paine 02-17-2006 01:42 PM

I watch curling because its more interesting and less gay than freestyle skating.

Nyck, I swear to god..I was just going to post that...

And if you think Pyro is a bone head for saying that, every person in any country who hopes to win a medal talks like this...whoever dismissed this idea didn't know what jingoism meant.

Pyro 02-17-2006 02:43 PM

It's just truth.

that's all.

The shame should make them not even want to enter a team in the next olympics.

Machette 02-17-2006 02:44 PM

I don't know shit about sports...havent even watched a single olympics event yet...

Well...the word elite can only be given to at most two teams (should onlt be one though) in womens hockey and thats Canada and USA.

Canada and USA vs any womens team is like a professinal team playing a minor league team...it should be no competition.

so losing the game is really pathetic and shows USA women ahve no heart or desire to live up to their country.

Machette 02-17-2006 02:52 PM

oOo:

Nyck 02-17-2006 02:57 PM

they have had womens ice hockey in teh olympics twice so far, american women won the 1st gold in 98 beating canada, canadians won in 02 beating the us.

sweden won today on a shootout and a great comeback.

sometimes the underdog comes out on top

1980 lake placid anyone?

Well techically...USA and Canada could probably make 5 different teams and they all would still be better than every other country in womens hockey...

the 15 year old goalie made them her bitch.

TonyMontana 02-18-2006 11:48 AM

What a terrible game against the Swiss. Way too many penalties and our PP was dismal. Too bad we didn't get that goal after the long ass review, but it was inconclusive, and couldn't see the puck (even though we all know it was in )

bleh.
