bingoooooooo. large aggressive vehicles play into your sense of masculinaty and dominance off and on the road. im a big tough guy therefor i have to drive a big tough truck. that's why suvs and trucks are always marketed as rugged or aggressive, being able to tackle anything that comes their way. i had to write a stupid essay on the topic.[/quote:e3ea5]

Well, I disagree on this.

People who buy big trucks, get big lift kits, big tires and drive to the mall every day are the people you are describing.

So what do you call people who buy honda's and rice them out? They're not trying to show dominance and how they sound and look fast but might not go fast?

A lot of Americans still live around areas with unpaved roads, so ground clearance and 4x4 capabilities are usefull. Plus in the snowy areas of the US its good to have 4x4 gas guzzlers. Its not all for show dude dance:
I drive a 4cyl single cam saturn that gets 40mpg and when its winter time im praying that one day i can get a 4x4 car or truck for the winter.[/quote:7ad26]
DING DING DING we have a winner. The majority of truck and suv owners live in rural or small town communities. In my town trucks and AWD cars or 4x4 vehicles are almost a necessity. Also when you live in a town that measures 20 sq. miles you dont do much driving. I used ot fill up my truck(gets 18-22 mpg) every other week just because I did so little driving. now that I drive a lot of long distance I have a car because of comfort and cost. It used to cost me ~ $60 to get to school from my house in my truck. now it cost $10 with my car. It all depends on the driving and what you can afford.

anti 04-15-2006 08:21 PM

i'm not arguing that everyone drives a truck or suv just for those reasons i mentioned, that would just be flat out inane; but think of how many suburbian mothers are driving oversized suvs?

Ill agree with you about that. People that live within 10 miles of a major city(and possibly more) most probably do not need a giant 4,500 lbs truck.

2002 (not sure) Ford Focus. I drive it when I'm home because I can't have a car on campus yet and technically it's not mine, my dad paid for it and decides if I can use it. It's zippy and easy to park, so it's good enough for me.

Also, I sometimes drive our Chrysler Mini van with the Infinity speakers cause it sounds awesome and can haul a lot of people. or I drive my dad's Ford Taurus that is like 3 years old. It's got a V-6 so it's pretty fast.

my family also has an 88 Dodge Colt that my Dad said I can have if I learn how to drive stick, but I'm not sure I want it cause it's disgusting.
