Don cherry was talking about that fight yesterday. he was saying that lecalvier didn't want to fight. lecalvier was in the scrum and chara pulled him out. lecalvier wouldn't look chara in the eye but did eventually after chara was hanging onto him. cherry said that after the chara staredown lecalvier really had no choice but to fight him and chara was just waiting for lecalvier to throw the punch which he did. and then chara threw him dow and got on top of him like the hero. cherry was saying that lecalvier was the hero for doing that rather than chara. not backing down and not taking shit from someone whose 2 feet taller.

He has a point, although cherry seems to hae a crush on lecalvier these days.

I think it's more of the fact that Don Cherry doesn't like the Senators/loves the Leafs.

He got a few things factually wrong in Coach's Corner last night:

1. The Chara/LeCavalier fight. C'mon. Everyone had a dance partner, then Vincent took a swing. He went down like a bitch. Period.

2. He said that Neil was calling out Dingman on the bench to fight, then turtled when Dingman jumped him. He wasn't calling out Dingman; he was jawing at Burke. They'd been yelling at each other all night.

Normally, I love Grapes, but this time he fucked up. Plain and simple. He's still in a snit because the Leafs aren't in the playoffs and Quinn got fired.

By the way, Chris Neil is fucking brilliant for suckering Dingman into that 7 minute penalty. It pretty much sealed the Lightning's fate. Cherry ripped Neil about having no honour? Fuck that. This is the playoffs...you do what has to be done.

I always watch CBC over the local broadcast for 2 reasons.

If you watch the initial scrum, Lecavalier happens to be the closest to Chara, hence he was the one he grabbed.

By your logic, him grabbing any one of the Lightning players would've been a "bitch move", as Chara could own any of them...including their tough guy Dingman.

yea officiating was pretty brutal both ways. Oils had a couple 5v3's (one I know of at least) just couldnt capitalize.

Staios looked like he fucking got assassinated on that dive in front of Holmstrom that drew a penalty. I think thats why spacek didnt get the call on the lidstrom "pick"

it was the worst officiated game Ive seen, both ways. It was a joke. Both teams got reamed but the Wings took advantage of it
