Few headshots from an 03 take them out, or 2 gammon bombs. Ive no real bother taking them down with any weapon really, BAR is pretty effective.

I actually like them as an enemy, to me theyre more deadly than the tanks as the rate of fire is far superior. Its a real "oh shit" moment when one of them comes trotting around the corner. rock:

ninty 09-09-2007 06:06 PM

yeah, i know. i finished it. just sayin 20 rounds to take do one guy is a little extreme.

Played a round of Destroyed Village. Map looks great, and the paradrops add a hage dimension to the map because basically anyone can be anywhere on the map not only on a horizontal plane, but vertical as well. I can remember hopping around with guys on there in the AA maps trying to get on top of buildings and such. paradrops makes it a lot easier.

played in a server with about 6 guys and it was fin. a few minutes later is was up to 10 guys and laggy as hell cause their hosting off a cable connection. great to see EA put the time in on the MP part of the game. Shouldn't expect any less from them. Give me a dedicated server and the ability to actually see my ping and you'll have a great game. Until then, they are fucking stupid. Still don't understand how they did that.

very true, makes for a good oh shit moment for sure. i just found it a little silly. but i guess i can't really expect a simulation, as this isn't one.

So far online its been really mixed for me. Sometimes people play properly and the games really fun, other times theres an asslaod of spawnraping going on with allies camping inside the rooftop of the church and firing at the germans when they spawwn below, that kinda thing gets really frustrating especially when you die within a second several succesive spawns in a row.

Ive been in remagen servers using the airdrop mode with people doing the same thing, camping rooftops with the (recoilless rifle) and fucking several people up with one shot into the middle of them. I think the main thing causing this to happen is the bazookas this time around seem really accurate over range (from what ive seen) compared to allied assault where after a few feet they'd veer all over the place.

The dedicated servers meant to come with some sort of spawn protection option so you can't die right away, maybe some sort of 2-3 second invulnerability which will be good. I still think it can be good though just needs some fine tuning.

ninty 09-09-2007 06:19 PM

yeah, in the dv map i played pretty much everyone was camping with sniper rifle. with the ability to drop it makes it a lot harder to find guys and they can hide and pick people off easier. will have to play more mp to see.

one thing about SP is you can't go and play any level after you pass the game? you have to restart the campaign? thats a load of bs.

You can, theres an option to select what campaign\operation you want to play through. happy:

Crazy Canadian 09-09-2007 07:35 PM

how the fuck do you get to the basement in that giant flaktower

geRV 09-09-2007 08:04 PM

Theres a series of ladders and elevators you have to use to get to the botom, total pain in the fucking ass to find.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 09-09-2007 08:45 PM

landshark!

elstatec 09-09-2007 09:11 PM

finally was able to connect to the multiplayer today, bit iffy but still decent

those elite storm soldiers are very return to castle wolfenstein esc.

well swastikas would make the game illegal to sell in Germany.

also a lot of gay Jack thompson-esque groups would just shit up a storm. i don't blame them for trying to stay PC. doesn't make it any less annoying and lacking in realism.

dr nein 09-09-2007 10:14 PM

It's funny how it's perfectly acceptable to call them all Nazi pigs, but put a swastika on their arms and suddenly you've gone too far.

Chronic Diarrhea 09-09-2007 10:15 PM

I've got swastikas on my game faggot.

ToeNail 09-09-2007 11:20 PM

The demo didnt run too well on my rig...gonna torrent it to see how well it runs and if its worth buying for multiplayer.

9mm BeRetTa 09-13-2007 05:08 PM

So what's the verdict, are people still playing this game? (Really only interested in MP)

If the demo runs OK on my PC, should the full version be fine too?

geRV 09-13-2007 05:38 PM

Everyones really still just waiting on the dedicated servers app to be released sometime nextweek. From the few playable game sof multi ive had the game can be fun, just needs the spawn massacre bullshit cut out and a few other tdds and ends.

The demo wasn't really a very good performance indicator, in sp some of the later missions like maket garden get pretty gfx intensive, should still run ok though.

Colonel 09-14-2007 06:54 AM

I finished the SP last night. I'll play some MP this weekend. Great game. My only complaint is the gas mask dudes and the big tower thing at the end. I would have preferred if the game just stuck to missions based in history. I play WWII shooters because the history interests me. If I wanted to shoot monsters, or some superhuman Nazi, I would play Doom or Wolfenstein or whatever.

Chronic Diarrhea 09-14-2007 08:23 AM

That flaktower did exist though, although the real ones were not that large.

Colonel 09-14-2007 08:26 AM

I think the EA developers had been watching Beyond Thunderdome too much.

The mg guy was obviously meant to be wearing some kind of body armour, the 42 can also be fired from the hip so its not a massive stretch of the imagination to say that moving slowly while weighed down with armour it might be possible to fire on the move.

True dat. But one bullet to the face should have taken him out. Plus the whole gas mask thing was a little silly. None of the other soldiers were concerned about gas. Maybe these Elite Storm Troopers had been at a kinky bondage orgy when the paratroopers started falling from the skies.

"Hans! Zee Americaners are attacking! What do we do?!"

"No time to change out of zis most excellent fetish wear. We must fight in our leather!"

"Oh Hans, you get me so hot when you take charge. I love it! But you get me so hard it makes me walk funny in these tight pants!"

"I think it eez zee butt plug zat makes you walk funny."

geRV 09-14-2007 09:33 AM

Actually the panzerscreck guys also had them. I think they were used with panzerschreck crews in real life sometimes. Something to do with the rocket blast\smoke and the oxygen around the weapon.

Chronic Diarrhea 09-14-2007 10:07 AM

Doesn't matter to me too much. MOH was never about realism. Besides, the mere fact that they got the normal Heer uniforms about as accurate as I've ever seen in a game makes up for it. For the first time, I actually saw division markings on their shoulder tabs, rank insignias on the sleeve, correct riflemen badges on the chest, etc. Even the Waffen SS had correct division sleeve markings on the cuff.

Colonel 09-14-2007 12:37 PM

Yep, for the most part the uniforms were sweet. It's just that I would have preferred the big ending to be fighting through waves of Germans versus the RoboNazis. Still, I give it an A+.

Now I've got to go back and play a few of the missions over again. I only rated a 5 star on one of them (the first) and a Three star on one (the second). After that I don't think I got but a couple of stars. The first time through I should have played it on Normal instead of Expert.

ninty 09-14-2007 12:50 PM

speaking of that, what are the stars based on?

Id also love to know this, ive 3 stars on avalanche and market garden, nomatter how many time i play wether i get skill drops or not they never change. I need at least 4 on each mission to unlock some of the bonus vids. cuss:

ninty 09-14-2007 02:51 PM

I think I got 5 stars on 3 of the missions playing on normal but I have no idea how or why I got them.

[quote:45790]Hey everyone –

So the current status of the Dedicated Server and Patch is that it’s still in clearance. I don’t think it’ll be out by next week as we’d hoped, but instead some time the week after. We want to get it to you as soon as we can, but we also want to make sure it’s working as expected. What I do have for you going into this weekend are the readme files for the patch and the dedicated server. I’m sure there are some things you wanted in this patch that you won’t see on the list, but that doesn’ t mean we’ve dropped them. Much of this patch was started before we even shipped the game. We still have a list of items we’re pursuing based on your feedback, and I will get you more information on those as soon as it’s available. The focus for this patch was getting dedicated server functionality up and running.

Great so more than likely no dedicated servers next week. rolleyes:
