Well i have a fender deville which sounds amazing, but the distortion is tool classic rock-ish. However i don't find the overdrive to be a problem because my amp can comprise it.

i have a marshall and a crate, both have really nice built in overdrive. the metal zone is alright with the right amp.

Metal Zones sound like overprocessed transistor shit. When I used to rock out with my emo band, I had a marshall jcm900 half. All you need to do is turn that shit up really loud to get some nice power amp saturation. You'll sound like jimmy page in no time.
