all of our seniors in an assembly line. We had 10 full sized trucks come with wood (mostly pallets) and we handed them down from the parking lot area to the bonfire area. We did that for 2 days and got a big pile going. Inbetween nights, we sleep out around the bonfire to protect it from our rivals, Philipsburg. They came in 1967 and prematurely set the pile ablaze at night so now the seniors stay out and protect it as tradition. Then the night before turkey day, we have a huge parade in our streets and light it. So all of the seniors are up for 50+ hours during those 3 days with no sleep. It's quite fun.

I smoked a lot of pot in highschool.

Why not back the trucks up to the bonfire site and dump the shit and then you wouldn't waste 2 days of your life handling pallets. biggrin: I'm assuming that it is a school sponsored activity, so there's not even the excuse of getting drunk. stupid:

correct. We have the longest highschool football rivalry between two states that we play on Turkey Day...huge thing. It's been broadcasted on ESPN a few times. ESPN had a whole documentary on our cities this past thanksgiving day.

And about the trucks...we can't back them up to the site because there is a huge ditch that seperates the soccer field (where it's piled up) and the parking lot. We have some people go out in their own private pick-up trucks and collect wood around town, but as they pass by, the dirt gets really torn up and we have to line it with ply wood. Even then, it becomes dangerous to drive a truck on the muddy grass.

Nyck, this is more of tradition than fire. Our city/highschool is built on tradition. I really like the feeling of having tradition and all of that kinda stuff...sort of reminds me of attending an Ivy League University or something with their history.

Give it about 10 years and you'll be a cynical bastard like me who can wipe their ass with high school tradition.

bon fires are fun. We had small ones at my highschool that caught the sorrounding ground on and the firemen went all crazy with their hoses on some small little flame.
