Interesting read!

Damn I must be a fucking genious. My first technique was add the first and last if they were same number, coinscidently this work for a while. Then when the weren't doubles you add the middle numbers and that worked a couple times. THen i believed that the numbers could not go above 12. I eventually proved myself wrong millions of times. Then the number was 0 and i was lost for a while. Then i started taking screen shots and comparing them to one another. Then i accidently scrolled down and saw some one's answer, fucking asshole hellfire:

Got it my first try... haha thats BS the smarter you are the longer it takes... all you have to do it think about the name of the game for a second... I dont consider myself not-smart haha I did a 30 ACT.

1 = 0 petals
2= 0 petals
3 = 2 petals
4 = 0 petals
5 = 4 petals
6 = 0 petals

then just add the sum up of all the dice
K thx for playin bye

so if you rolled

3, 4, 5, 2, 3 your total would be 8

nice, thats the right answer.

Too easy.........I must be really stupid

SoLiDUS 06-12-2004 10:15 PM

I tried the "experiment" with friends: some are gifted, most aren't. I did
NOT give them the name of the game. All I said was "there IS a specific
rule for how I get the number I say after rolling the dice. Your job is this:
find out the rule and when you do, tell me what the dice value is." MOST
of the average crowd took a LONG time to figure it out whereas the other
more gifted folks did after a few rolls. Without the name, a lot less would
find it, as there's no longer a connection to be made between the name
and dice. More fun...

The simpler the person, the easier it is not to get caught up in a complex
analysis. When we remove the element that helps people find the trick, it
makes the game challenging and fair for everyone.

Pick Axe 06-12-2004 10:43 PM

I just read the name, knew it meant something, and picked the ones that looked like peatals on a rose. Easy, so I guess I'm a dumbass.
