i dont see the point of a visa logo on a bank card, we have the banks logo on ours..[/quote:21220]

its so we can use our banking account money anywhere, and we dont have to be like FUCK can I borrow some cash to buy a burger.

My bank is TCF it says TCF check card, but can be used anywhere visa is accepeted and its juts debited from my bank account.

i have an atm/debit card all in one it serves as an atm card and basicly plastic money, every time i make a purchase it just automaticly deducts it from my checking account, really quite convienent.

and if someone already said this, then stfu i didnt feeel like reading every single post

no your shit is fucked. see we get an "interac" card here from our bank. Its called a "debit" card or "check card" It is basically our atm card to access money from the bank. Difference is our banks are leet and every bank card has a visa or mastercard logo on it. It takes the money directly from your bank account. I can take my card and go buy a dvd at best buy. say credit, swipe my card and it takes the 20 bucks out of my bank account interest free. I could then take that same card, shove it in an atm and take out 20 bucks. You incur no interest from using a "check card".

Our banking system > your banking system

Visa "Accepted anywhere 1337ness is found"[/quote:970f3]

I dont see the point of the logo, but thats what im talking about. I was at the Walden Galleria in Buffalo, NY. [url:970f3]http://www.waldengalleria.com/[/url:970f3]
No store had that debit thing, so i had to use the bank machine.
So you guys do have (interac/debit) ?

Plus, you guys have like different candy and soft drinks too. its like a different world. And i had a sub at Charley's Steakery, its a sub place like subway, and it was the best sub i ever had.

Yes they have interac. Its just different systems. But not everyone has interac. There are lots of places in canada that don't have it.

Just like if you go to europe, they have different voltages for electrical sockets than north america, and you can't use north american appliances without an adapter i believe. I think in europe they use 220v, while in north america, we only use that for large equipment.

difference is that our banks hook us up by making our card a visa...so we can use our shit world wide...and not have to look for specific things.

if that place takes visa or mastercard....we can buy something from there and its taken out of our checking account

Yeah my buddy brrman showed me his check card when he was here last. Pretty cool, I guess.

He couldn't use it in any of the smaller ATM machines, though...just the major banks would accept it.

Separate Interac/Debit card and Visa card combo works for me.

bukdez 12-22-2004 08:51 AM

ffs, ive used my canadian debit card in ATMs and debit machines in the US and the UK and Amsterdam, with no problems... it's not 1978 anymore, the bank computers can readjust the difference in currency...

Jotun 12-22-2004 09:03 AM

Usually When I am in the States, I use my Visa if I don't have cash. You can't go wrong with the credit card. However I did used my debit in Nashville and I had no problems in other parts on Tenn.

Madmartagen 12-22-2004 09:21 PM

debit is ok, its the freakin surcharges i hate. i try to carry some cash on me, cause i dont have a credit card anymore.
