"It was extraordinarily bad luck. It's not easy to get spined by a stingray and to be killed by one is very rare," Collin said.[/quote:77d14] What a fucking shame[/quote:77d14] I saw that one as well. He talked about how the guy diver held onto the dead lady diver all night while he was getting thrown into the cliffs by the waves. |

[quote:93e95] Irwin's death caught on videotape BRISBANE, Australia (CNN) -- "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, the Australian naturalist killed by a stingray on Monday, was videotaped pulling a poisonous barb from his chest just before he died, according to news reports.[/quote:93e95] |
from what I have read/heard he killed himself by pulling the barb out himself. You NEVER remove a stab/punture you let the hospital do that. I know that and Im an amateur in the woods/water compared to him. You NEVER NEVER NEVER remove and item in your chest. Let the pros do that
|
if it was through the heart it didnt matter. It probably wasnt a consious decision to pull it out but more of a natural reaction. He most likely would have died from teh amount of shock it put in his body, not to mention a direct venomous injection right to the heart.
It is very true that if you have something puncturing your chest, neck, or head, and you live, you are supposed to leave it in so that doctors can remove it safely. However this wasnt a knife, or a branch, or anythign of that sort, this was a living creature so having just stabbed something its next move would have been to get away thus either causing severe damage internally by moving the barb around or by snapping the barb off(they can do it, personal expierence) and leaving it in the victim. |
His friend John Stainton said that he died instantly probably, he didnt remove anything from his chest. But there is video of him being killed. the guy said the police have it in their possession, but he doesnt even want to see the video, he was crying as he said that. So sad.
Atleast thats what he said on cnn last night. |

CAIRNS, Australia — Steve Irwin was videotaped pulling a poisonous stingray barb from his chest in his last moments of life, officials said Tuesday |
Intresting, how this guy John Stainton went from sayin he didnt see the tape and would never watch it, to him saying hes seen it.
Either way tripper was right about sting ray deaths [quote:ad079]Experts differed on the number of human deaths caused by stingrays -- anywhere from 3 to 17 -- though they agreed that they were extremely rare.[/quote:ad079] loney: |
so he died from the venom and not being stabbed then, right? the venom was injected directly into his heart?

You dont die the exact moment something goes into your heart. Your heart gets ruptured and stops, your brain instantly realizes what has happened and reacts by telling hte body basicaly to shut down. It takes your body less than a 1/5 of a second to do that. When his heart was pierced he reacted naturally and pulled the barb out, when he did that Im sure it hurt and caused more damage and his body completely shut down instantly.

i hear its wired into human brains to shit yourself when you die from a suprise-type attack. this is to make you unappetizing to the thing that attacked you. o_o |

I remember reading once that the human brain can remain active for as much as 5 minutes after body death. Scary it would be to be trapped inside yourself like taht. ed:
