How do you know they didn't work hard in other areas to earn the right to be given a car? Not everyone is a walking stereotype. The way I see it, unless you know the person very well you have no place to judge anyone like that.[/quote:e0eaa] Thats your view on it. I don't see it like that though. |

Don't comeback and say that's not true because it is....You're closing your mind to the possibility of someone earning the right to have a car given to them through other means than working at a job and getting paid by a boss. Simply because they have rich parents. That's prejudice towards rich people. Just because they're rich doesn't make them corrupt and spoilt. My family are very well off, but it's only because my parents worked terribly hard to get where they are.....They bought both my cars. Doesn't mean I didn't deserve them. I'm pretty much their butler when I'm not at university, they're both so busy they're rarely home to manage the rest of their life - So I do a lot of it for them, and have been doing it at varying degrees since I've been capable of it.... By your logic that makes me a rich punk/spoilt brat type. |

I think a guys first car should be bought by himself with money has erned himself. A guys first car is something special and i think it takes something away from that to have it handed to him. Taking out the trash and washing dads car should not earn you a car.
Work, sweat and a weekly paycheck should buy your first car. Having said that having your dad cosign your loan is not a problem as long as your the one making the payment along with the insurance. Buying and paying for your first car is one of the first steps to manhood and taking responcibility for yourself. I bought my first car as did my son. I could have helped but my son decided he wanted to do it himself. He worked his ass off doing landscaping until he had enuogh to make a downpayment. Bought a 380 ZX twin turbo. He saved 1000.00 for the down payment and i cosighned the loan. That was 12 years ago. Now he owns his own construction company. |
You should come to my school and see some of the cars people own, my own personal belief is your first car should be a peice of junk. People here have fucking BMWs, SAABs, (Insert other expensive shit) and they always reck them.

Firstly: Yeah, that's the ONLY way to teach someone a lesson about hard work. You can't give your kids ANYTHING at all.....and when they do "work" for it, it HAS to be in the form of a JOB. Jesus fucking christ, open your mind a little. You can't see anyone earning the right to be given a car in other areas of life OTHER than a payed job? What if your kids a fucking scholar and has no time for a job? What if your kids are too busy looking after your old ass, helping you maintain and as a result don't have time for a job. You don't pay them any money. ....But oh no, if you get them a car IT WILL INSTANTLY MAKE THEM A SPOILT BRAT. Can you SEE how stupid and nieve you look? There ARE times when people are given things that they deserve. ....and for the record, the car my parents gave me (my first) was worth about 750$ American dollars.....In my honest and logical opinion, I deserved it. I worked hard for it. I went out of my way helping out my folks for it. ....but it was given to me. I didn't go to the store and get it with money from my own wallet, but it was with money I had earned. That DOES NOT make me a spoilt brat, or unworthy of my "manhood" like you people say it would. |

A first car should be something you work for, you're right there.....But YOU have NO RIGHT to judge someone if they get a car by other means because YOU don't know if they've worked or not. I was my own example in that, If I had told you flat out that I got my first car given to me, without going into detail about how I earned it - You'd judge me and instantly assume that I was a spoilt brat simply because I didn't get it with a conventional job. That's why you're narrow minded. |
I dont know about anyone else but im not judging you at all or calling you any names. As a matter of fact i feel bad that you missed out something. Its a very proud moment in a young mans life to make that first car deal with his own money. Its difficult to explain if you have never done it.
Some day im sure youll have a job and buy that car. Then youll better understand what im trying to say here. It wont be your fist car but the feeling will be the same. |
