I'd have to call BS on this one..there are alot of people he knew in the STA that have been interviewed. I also dont think they would make up a movie without doing some research. Im sure that there are some embellisments to the story, But I doubt he would lie about his position in the corp. Im sure its recorded what division you are in.
From what i've been hearing he wasn't in STA.

That rumor was being spread around imdb...some guy had a link actually stating he was in STA, the rumor was probably complied by some ex-marine who was pissed off at swoff's book..

Im talking about i never even saw it on imdb. I've heard it from various credible Marines. But who knows.

The book is a memoir, written nearly a decade after the conflict...their are probably some falsehoods in his story...but I highly doubt he'd just say he was in STA and get away with it, his book would then become fiction.

also, he was reading Albert Camus' The Stranger, which is an amazing book. Thought that was cool.
Just started reading the stranger last week, simple literature but a strong message...plus the plague is leet rock:
The Outsider (what every english speaker outside the US calls "The Stranger") was the first assined book that I actually enjoyed. Siddhartha was also very good. Too badfor this years juniors, its been taken off the list.
