I would have laughed at the cop if he tried to pull that shit. OH NOES! I get in the smallest amount of trouble possible.

I like how the skateboarders will tell you that its a whole way of life and that skateboarding is so deep and all this shit.
but when he gets in trouble for it he breaks it down to the most basic level "You are arresting us for riding pieces of wood?" |

So, you never got hit by your parents? ........wonder how you'll bring up your kids. I guess it'll be alright if they tell you to go fuck yourself because a "time out" won't help in that situation. Good luck and get back to me when your kids are 18. |

I've only met one cool skater in my whole life..he hung out with the other skaters of course...and they thought they were the shit. They all sucked ass...but my friend was amazing...he didn't act like he was the shit...or even care. The attitude I saw on that video reminds me of that group of skaters I know, disrespectful, rude, and obviously breaking the law. If there was a sign saying "No Skateboarding" then don't do it. That right there tells me they were trying to get under the cops nerves.
Now the cop was choking a kid with his hand...wtf... oOo: Didn't I read somewhere that the kid was 13? Then getting the girl in the headlock... eek: I don't think this is police brutality at all..simply because I think some key elements were edited from the video. At the end of the video the two kids say, happy skateboarding day, or something...why don't they just shut the fuck up. I'm in the middle of this, but I am a little bit more on the cop's side, simply because those skaters probably edited the video of them flagrantly breaking the law. Skateboarding and skaters are fine until they get like that....which is what the skateboarding community likes to represent themselves as..."We don't give a fuck" |

Trip, that's exactly the balance. It isn't about fear, it's about respect. Sometimes you obtain it through a kick in the ass, sometimes just a chat. When i was a kid, i respected my father but when i over stepped the line (like getting in trouble with the law), you knew there was an ass beating ahead. It was a part of my life and most of the kids i grew up with during that time. The fear would kick in though if you did get into alot of trouble. Seems like those kids didn't have that fear, nor the respect for the police enforcing the law.
I find it hard to believe, by the way some of you guys here (Jotun, Anti) reacted to my comments, that you NEVER got a kick in the ass by your father. Well, perhaps you two were perfect angels and never got it trouble. |
