Mr.Buttocks 06-03-2005 06:17 PM

Will they be releasing a demo of this before the game comes out? (Sorry, too lazy to read the whole thread.)

m00nraker 06-03-2005 06:19 PM

They said they will release the demo June 10th.

Seriously? I can't find it.

geRV 06-03-2005 10:55 PM

Its not been released, theyre meant to be having problems with the cd key, game didn't come with one.

dr nein 06-03-2005 11:00 PM

Usually takes awhile anyway. exe modifications must be made, etc.

Short Hand 06-04-2005 09:00 AM

ill check into dfxp sooner or later and see, they are usually the first people to get their grubby hands on it.

geRV 06-04-2005 10:47 AM

wickeddddddd, 281mb, downloading now

They're reviewing it in the next PC Gamer mag, wonder what they'll give it, my guess is 94%

geRV 06-04-2005 10:58 AM

Another "theatre" video available here 310 mb.

If the game lives upto anywhere near what its promising it'll get game of the year easily.

Taken from ign regarding performance and graphics settings.

[quote:c5cb9]How is the perfomance when settings/resolution is maxed?
What are the specs on the computer you're running it on? What resolution are you playing it on and how does it run?
Hey can you mention the specs of the machine you were playing it on, and what res you were using?

These are approximations, but based on the various systems we've played it on:

1.8GHz, 64MB video RAM, 512k RAM - 1024x768, low details (still looks good, btw)

2GHz, 128MB video RAM, 1GB RAM - 1280 x 960, medium details

3GHz, 256MB video RAM, 1GB RAM - everything maxed (the videos you're seeing)[/quote:c5cb9]

Think it'll call for an AGP card, like BF:V did, or since the intro of PCIE, it'll just want a type of card?

I'm struggling to get Quake 4... Im looking more forward to that, but if not, I'll see you guys on the servers around August.

Stammer 06-04-2005 11:59 AM

Good videos gerV. I am disapointed by one thing that I heard...the victory music.

geRV 06-04-2005 11:59 AM

It needs a direct x 9 compatible card, so you're talking radeon 9500\9800, geforce 5800 or better.

Second vids 12 mins long and looks pretty good so far. happy:

Commander mode looked very newbie friendly, but I still don't understand...is there a timer on Artillery and other functions?

[quote="$p!k3":0ff4c]Commander mode looked very newbie friendly, but I still don't understand...is there a timer on Artillery and other functions?[/quote:0ff4c]

Artillery has to charge so you cant repeatedly spam it, then when you do click where you wnt it to land it takes around 8 seconds to hit, and obviously its not pin point accurate either. As far as i know all the items the commander can use are physically present in your main base, artillery cannons, radar etc so the enemy can go into your base and disable them so you wont have access to them. So base defence plays more of a role instead of all out attack.

I like the sound of that. Parachuting behind enemy lines with some satchel charges finally has a point to it. I'm curious about how long the artillery, etc can be disabled for. Guess until an engineer repairs them?

geRV 06-04-2005 01:02 PM

Probably be like the airstrip towers in bf:nam. Once you lose them theyre gone for the round so theres a point to having to defend them.

6 days till demo, Friday....... calmdown:

I should be able to play with most things maxed, Gerv, we expect some exclusive top grade screenies once you get the demo running all maxed out..

Also have to include this:

"To play online, all users will create new user accounts for Battlefield 2, and in creating an account, you are accepting to pay a $15 support charge and follow EA’s Terms and Conditions."

Hold on...$15 a month or is it just a one time charge? If it's monthly than fuck that.

Ya ill be putting a few up. That 15% charge thing is bugging me though. Charging monthly for games is something ive never agreed with, its enough that we buy the game why should we have to pay to play as well, not like ea's scraping the barrel for money either.

Honestly, fuck this game if thats the case.

Nyck 06-04-2005 02:41 PM

Hold up fellas I think the 15 bucks is if you want to play on EA's official ranked servers will all their super 1337 benefits...its the same case for all their sports games(EASO) You should be able to play on non ranked servers very easily. i see tons of places leasing servers for it already.

so if you want super ranking systems like Americas Army's Honor system, then you would pay.

geRV 06-04-2005 02:41 PM

Just read through that link that miyagi posted, i don;t see where it says pay to play.
