Oh yes, also who was sending GB food and munitions from the start? Where did a 1/3 of your pilots come from before the US enter the war officially? It was a joint effort to fight a great evil. The US helped, GB helped, France helped, we all helped!

Sorry for the double post...I whoopsed!

It was a WORLD war, if you remember correctly. Everyone who was a part of the allies did their bit to end it.

In the multi-player game there is a french model, along with a french (albeit a very clichéd) accent for voice commands/taunts (Oh, God, I do hope they allow you to filter those out, cos they are sooo annoying when abused by newbies).

The blurb on the demo says there will be 23 player models in total. I'm certain they'll make some of those from other countries, too.

It does seem though that the single player game is just viewed from the American side. Nothing wrong with that, but it does seem a little pointless naming it Allied Assault unless it involves all nationalities that took part.

It annoys me just as much to see Brits get all uppity about the war and what we did to win it, as it does when I see Americans do the same.

We're on the bloody same side.

Yes, I'm from the UK.

The Americans sat on the fence until Pear Harbour 3 years after the war started...fact

Tne Americans contribution was crucial to the outcome...fact

As far as inventions go .... the A bomb wins with the V2 rocket shortly behind...opinion

The most technically superior army ..The Germans.

But this is THE game of WW2 http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif)

Umm, the war *officially* started September 39...

So Pearl Harbour, December '41, was only two years later...

And as anti-american as we all know i am, i have to say that Americans definitely made the major difference in the war for their part.

Mind you, yes, we would've won the war without Americans. It just would have cost us more time and more blood. D-day was already in the plans for the Brits, but just on a slightly smaller scale.

So, if we are to imagine, Dday without the yanks would've probably ended with the same result, but far more casualties. It's a good probability that without americans, the war probably would've ended somewhere near 1950.

IHAVENOFRIENDS says: >Let me tell you folks, the feeling on our shores is next time Germany or any other country goes wacko, well leave you all alone to fend for yourselvews in Europe. All that we have ever done for Europe is spill our blood and money on your battlfields<

Well who the hell are you to analyze or interpret the feeling on our shores? You ever READ any books about WW2? Or just see John Wayne movies? I recommend you read Paul Fussel and John Keegan. (NOT Ambrose, that plagarist flag-waver writing for the Readers Digest crowd)

No one here has mentioned the Soviet contribution to the war effort. It is generally acknowledged by reputable historians that the Russians determined the outcome; the beaches at DDay, for instance, were manned by German old men and kids because the balance and cream of the German army was on the Eastern Front fighting the Russians.

IHAVENOFRIENDS does not represent sophisticaed American thought; only that small town, egocentric, xenophobic mentallity that voted Republican and then lost but stole the Presidential election.

An excellent, non-biased book everyone here should read is John Keegan's "Six Armies in Normandy".

Forget Ambrose and his sugar coated retoric about Americans and the power of democracy.
