tell me about it dude, it was easy to install. I think i might have some corrupt XP files?

Milla 12-28-2005 09:50 PM

When i install the drive when the comp reboots it says when it finds new hardware it says "Found cd-rom drive" when its a fucking dvd-burning drive.

Milla 12-28-2005 11:35 PM

Problem solved. It was a registry error, i just went into the registry and had to remove the Upperfilter and Lowerfilter out of one of the registry files. And bam my comp works faster and the drive works awesome.

Arriving tomorow (hopefully)

AMD Opteron UP 144 San Diego 1.8GHz 1MB Cache

Seen people get these upto 3ghz using regular cooling, pretty cheap cpu so its worth taking a chance on happy:

Himmler 12-29-2005 11:57 AM

i havent been up to speed on alot of the new hardware and shit, but i dont get it, why are people choosing the opertons over a dual core X2 and the fx-57s? just because they oc to 3ghz?

1200/900 $ vs 200-300 $... MAKE your decision. beer: .

Amd opteron 1.8ghz £99

Amd fx57 2.8ghz £750

So if mine clocks anywhere near 2.8 ive effectively got an fx57 with a £650 discount.

beer:

Im not fussy about dual core either, id rather go for pure mhz for gaming rather than settle for a cpu clocked slower. They also have trouble with some games a the moment.

Milla 12-29-2005 04:46 PM

Ok even though you have an Optura and are going to overclock to 3 ghz. What type of fan power do you need. I'd imagine a nice cooling system.

Assuming it'll clock to 3ghz happy: .

Ive seen some people get to 2.8 or more using just the cooler that comes with the cpu, im gonna be using the default coolre first of all then maybe try watercooling the cpu after i get a new cpu block for my hydrocol.

I have a weird problem. On my family's computer, if you highlight something in MS word and then hit the delete key, nothing happens. The highlighted part is still there and the cursor just goes back to flashing. The key works, because it deletes if you don't highlight anything, it's just when you highlight a sentence for instance and want to delete it, it won't. Any ideas?

Just my luck to get a faulty motherboard, had it all hooked up tonight for testing, turn it on and one of the diodes beside a ram slot starts to glow white hot and belch out smoke. annoy:

How can you automaticly join a game server(say bf2?) from an icon on your desktop?
Blitz":38a66]How can you automaticly join a game server(say bf2?) from an icon on your desktop?[/quote:38a66]

if you want to join a game thats in the q3 architechture (COD2, MOHAA, COD1, ET), you can just rightclick, go to properties, and the end of where it says target, put + connect xx.xx.xxx.xx where the X is the IP of the server.

edit: For BF2, if you launch from CD there is an option saying "Start Playing Now", press that, and it will connect you to the first suitable server.

Also, I've had no troubles with my Dell1905fp monitor in the past month, but recently theres a line on the left side of the screen that fucks up the resolution of anything that is being viewed near that area(meaning ill move an image over there and the area where the line overpasses the image is all f'ed up, and on the desktop wallpaper the line distorts that specific area of the image)...any idea what i could do to fix this?

Has been a lot lately, the x1900 is the refresh of the x1800, reason its out so soon is because the x1800 had been delayed while the x1900 was on track, ideally x1800 would have been released in june 05 with 7 months between them.

Then we have the r600 coming in late summer this year ed:

Forte 01-08-2006 10:55 PM

I need a new card now, but am on AGP.

Jin-Roh 01-08-2006 11:12 PM

R600 links plz.

geRV 01-09-2006 06:12 AM

Nothing really on r600 yet, its meant to use a unified pipeline system though similar to the r500 in the xbox 360, if so thats the first time a pc graphics card has done this.

Akuma 01-11-2006 12:14 PM

refreshes suck.... next gen ftw
