but you do need to justify. we require to hear some sort of logical reasoning behind your actions because alot of us are boggled as to why you would go to the extreme of calling yoursel "straight edge". ok fine, you don't like drinking but what the hell is wrong with having a single beer?
getting alittle defensive are we happy:

You're judging anyone that drinks when you go on about how alcohol sucks in every thread where it's mentioned - When you say stuff like "I don't need alcohol to have fun," you're basically saying we need it to have fun. Which isn't the case. We need it to have EXTRA fun, sure. The way people like you put it is like those annoying fucking vegans who "LUCKILY, don't like the taste of meat." As if theres something wrong with eating meat.

This is the internet, when you annoy people by continually drawing attention to some aspect of your true life, you eventually get insulted for it. Welcome 2 Internets.

I remember reading a quote, not sure where from but it said ;

"I once read about the dangers of drinking. That was the day I gave up reading."

All due respect matey & with no offense intended, I was merely saying 'the straight edge types in my area suck'. Perhaps the ones in your area don't sit around watching TV & playing the guitar. I was merely trying to make the point that there's no way I'd dress up like a complete tit & go out in public, be that werewolf, rambo, cowboy or sailor without being utterly wankered. Not to mention kissing a stuffed moose, shaving half my mates hair off, wearing lipstick & spending the night in a bush... The only way I could ever do those things is if I was under the effects of copious amounts of alcohol.

I'm glad & proud I've done those things because it shows I'm living a bit, it's all crazy, immature & stupid but it's great fun & now is the time to do it. I think a lot of the people around here follow some kind of fashion to elevate their image [posers] & wouldn't dream of doing something so bizarre, especially in public. Those kind of people, imho, do not live. I've come to the conclusion that at this age it's all about living & having fun, screw trying to be cool & trendy. I can do the straight edge stuff, [sit at home with a pipe & paper] when I have a family & settled down.

Just my 2p

dont worry about it. i get it all the time. i think people misunderstand me sometimes. im not a violent person, and i dont mock people who drink or smoke unless they flaunt it like it makes them the coolest kids around, i can be around it and just not do it. if i wasnt that way, these 4 years in college are going to be very lonely.

but i do have friends that are like that, i dont agree with them.

Airborne Butters 08-26-2006 03:25 PM

Sure you don't need drinking to have a good time but it helps. It's like this; Say you're fucking a really hot chick. That's pretty sweet as is, but when her friend joins in, then hell yeah! That's what beer does.

Machette 08-26-2006 04:23 PM

Have some glenfiddich (15 years) on the rocks and you'll be okay.
