It seems that their marketing strategies in other countries is completely different than in the US. If you realese any info to the US market all you are going to get is bitching and complaints; however, if you make the game a suprise than you have more potential buyers and less nay-sayers. I'm sure this is why they release more info in other countries.

SoLiDUS 06-06-2005 09:38 AM

Shit, I dont care... this looks teh sweetz so I'm getting it. I think I'll run around re-animating EVERYONE... enemies included. They will call me MOTHER TERESA! biggrin: angel:

Doesn't really need to be, just watch it for the action. Don't need to hear about whats going on or technical bs about polycounts or player limits.

On the subject of BF2, does anyone still play DC? I play alot, just had a funny round just now, a mod that makes the Jeeps turbo powered when holdin right mouse button, was hilarious:

Flying jeeps everywhere, taking off mountains heading for enemy base for CTF happy:

Doctor Duffy 06-06-2005 04:26 PM

Roflmao, how'd he get all the way up there?

I used to always take the Jeeps in that big desert map (forgot the name) and constantly ran it into unsuspecting plane campers (and the planes, of course)

El Alamien or Gazala? El Alamein was 1ee7.

I remember back when I played Battleifled 1942 a bunch of us would get onto the B-17 and try to hang on so we could parachute into the bases or just see who would last the longest.

Looks like its definately been snagged by deviance.

dr nein 06-06-2005 09:51 PM

Yeah. There was someone playing it on Xfire a day or two ago.

Gamespot have a new preview up, don't really like the sound of the weapons looking to have no recoil but a wide spread, just seems that would make guaging shots pretty difficult.

Yeah im sure theres medics running about with defribulators on the streets of iraq resurrecting people with 50 bullet holes and their balls and head missing. rock:

Doctor Duffy 06-06-2005 10:00 PM

Oh christ, I had no idea there were Asian settings too... I thought the whole game was Middle Eastern type stuff. And destructible enviorments! Had no idea. Im peeing...

geRV 06-06-2005 10:02 PM

Asian setting sorta reminds me of a few maps from bf:nam. Some of the asian maps look good, that swamp map was too nam'ish for my liking.

So basically what that means is the guns won't have recoil, but the bullets will go all over the place? Sounds like the MGs in Silent Heroes.

Going to be pretty stupid if you can't hit people at 300m with the M16 because your first shot goes in a random angle.

KTOG 06-06-2005 10:19 PM

Sounds like CoD, where the best person was just lucky that their bullets hit.

geRV 06-06-2005 10:19 PM

[quote:8e1eb]We noticed that the infantry weapons aren't quite as powerful as the preview trailers made them seem to be. If you're coming straight from Battlefield 1942, then you're definitely going to notice a distinctly smaller amount of recoil on the weapons, to the point where many of them seem to have almost no recoil at all. Even if you can aim incredibly well, the spread is still going to make it difficult to hit enemies at medium range. Firing off small bursts will definitely improve your aim, but even then, you don't want to just fire away at a distant enemy, since there are very few ammo boxes.[/quote:8e1eb]

That does come off as pretty dumb, so basically anything aside from up close in your face is gonna be a hold down the trigger and hope for the best affair. Doesn't really make a lot of sense, the assault rifles in bfv worked pretty well, had a recoil and could be used to pretty large distances, if what gamespots saying is true they they're even weirder to use than bf-1942.

Duke_of_Ray 06-06-2005 10:24 PM

Wish I had the connection to play it, dial up stinks like eggs.

dr nein 06-06-2005 10:28 PM

That sounds amazingly stupid.

Allah forbid anything but a sniper rifle be useful for killing anyone with less than a mag.

TonyMontana 06-07-2005 02:20 PM

he's probably a beta tester or he has some really huge connections

Doctor Duffy 06-07-2005 02:21 PM

Beta tester...with Xfire on? Maybe he's just trying to show it off?

TonyMontana 06-07-2005 02:24 PM

judas showed me that guy playing BF2 like a month or two ago.

Pretty childish thing to do...yet extremely fitting in a way I cannot describe.

Stammer 06-08-2005 11:04 AM

Possibly two days until demo!

dance:

Ferich 06-08-2005 11:55 AM

Knowing EA the demo will get delayed for a couple days....I hope not. rock:

Medium range is pretty accurate for rifles, if their medium range is my idea of medium range, and with that hopefully suppressive fire has worth to it at long ranges. I wonder how underpowered the mounted mgs will be also.

Miscguy 06-08-2005 12:06 PM

Im not to worried, since the SDK is supposedly being released a few days before the game. Its also said to be semi easy to use. Im sure with a bit of fidling someone will come out with a realism mod to correct some of these issues.

I for one am going to look into fixing a few things, such as the improper M16 reload animation. But also perhaps damage stats, and the "holding" position for mounted weapons. Since it appears in vids that they hold the weapon with there two hands instead of putting it in there shoulder.

Stammer 06-08-2005 01:10 PM

I used to make maps for Battlefield 1942, it has about the same learning curve as using a spoon. So hopefully the BF2 map editor will be just as easy.

What does he do when he reloads? rack the bolt back like every other fucking game? Dont people test fire weapons before they do the animations. When you go dry with a magazine on a real M16 the bolt locks back to the rear, you remove the spent mag, reload another mag than hit the bolt release and continue to fire...not rack the fucking charghing handel again.
