Ontopic: I'm thinking about leasing a little shitbox for my work commute. I'm moving in June, putting me about 20mins further away from work.

I'd like something new to lease, use for a few years, and return. Monthly payments have to be minimum and the car has to sip gas. Suggestions?

The short list:
- Chevrolet Aveo
- Toyota Echo
- Saturn Ion

I'd really like to get a Mazda 3, but they're a little too pricey (believe it or not).

I might look into a newer used car as well. Haven't found anything really outstanding yet, though.

Zone, how many total miles is your commute? You said the drive is 20 min longer.

If you're driving a lot of miles you are going to be paying a hefty fee for a high mileage lease.

Yeah, I gotta map it out. It'll be about 30kms (about 19 miles).

Oh, thats not bad at all...my dad drives about 80 miles a day, thats why he could never lease a car.

That Ion looks pretyt nice, I had no idea they were so cheap, plus it has 140hp, which is decent.

Zoner 04-20-2005 12:17 PM

Yeah, not bad at all. Might take one out for a spin/shit-haul. biggrin:

Id advise against leasing or buying new. If you buy a car thats one year old its going to be about 35% cheaper than a new car, still have all the warentee info and you still have an ALMOST new car.
