I never said France was "our best ally", but France and Germany are NATO mambers and therefore by definition our allies.

We are not exatcly defending ourselves in the war on Iraq, more like drawing troops away from the war on terror and making it more dangerous for us.

I am NOT pro appeasement, but teh way Bush handled Iraq leaves all the reconstruction costs to taxpayers like me, maybe you're a kid and its your mommy and daddy who pay the taxes, but Uncle Sam is taking my own money here. If we handled the UN more diplomatically the war might be delayed a few months (big whoop, not like Saddam's shambles of a WMD program could make anything in that time) but we would have others sharing the monetary burden.
