Have to go to one of the maps that has it, then use the changelevel command.

mr.miyagi 11-25-2004 05:11 PM

Tried that ati beta driver with the .Net too, totally fucked up hl2, installed 4.7 over them as i had no new ones d/l'ed and currently can't run hl2 at all as it gets close to finishing loading then my radeon 9800 pro shuts down and goes into software mode :|
CS is messed up too...navigating the menu with this text is difficult to say the least...

geRV 11-25-2004 05:16 PM

Pretty messed up looking

ed:

Uninstall the ati drivers and control panel, boot the pc in safe mode and run this driver cleaner program http://members.home.nl/mclaren2000/down ... tup_33.zip

Tell it to search for ati, click clean.

Reboot and reinstall the driver and control panel.

Turns out my friend was having a similar problem with the artifacts and he took off his pc case and it works now. The card was just frying itsself in his small case.

Bucknub 11-25-2004 09:22 PM

normally when u get prolems that look like that, it's usually an over heating issue.

Sometimes, ive seen a load of complaints with the same thing though but the card working ok in other games.

11-25-2004 10:08 PM

yeah but wasnt the 9800 series (LE, standard, Pro, XT) built to take heat?

m00nraker 11-25-2004 10:17 PM

Im sure it was, but everything has its limit.

wtf I thought HL2 was going to give us some answers on wtf happened in the first HL and to give some answers on what is currently going on after the black mesa facility accident... it only touched on a few things, didn't give much explantion. Hopefully HL3 raps up more on the storyline. Overall Hl2 was fun and the graphics are simply amazing, wish the storyline was better... instead of just trying to save some bitches father mad:

I meant technically incomplete, dumass. like with the sound stuttering etc. Its not as bad as Enter the Matrix, which suked badly.

11-26-2004 11:55 AM

oh wow the game is so incomplete, theres sound stuttering!!! and mohaa was so complete that you could use god mode in version 1.0 !!!

Neo Nazi Hitler 11-26-2004 12:53 PM

Theyre called bugs retard, every game has them so they get patched out, some bugs dont show up in testing and are discovered after release so then they get patched.

You spelled "dumass" wrong, dumbass. If you're going to insult someone, atleast spell it right.

1080jibber 11-27-2004 11:43 AM

im liking the game so far, but the one problem i have with it is that you dont know when to stop or keep going, like right now im at the level where you drive the hovercraft thing and i just fly past things, not knowing if i should stop.

but the game is alot of fun

Akuma 11-27-2004 11:50 AM

Don't stop until you crash into a wall. Then you need a solve a puzzle.

mr.miyagi 11-27-2004 06:14 PM

God Damnit!!

It seems ever since steam and hl2 updated themselves recently i've come into major problems, now i can't even play the game anymore. It gets to nearly finishing the loading screen and then it either turns my pc off, restarts it or just does nothing, the whole audio stuttering issues with the game also fuck things up badly. Tried different drivers to no avail..

Just a quick question, once you've activated the game, etc, do you have to go online everytime u play it? is there not an offline mode or something. I've f*****g activated, unlocked files and put in my serial key, surely thats enough to play it without having to log-in every single time....

Judas 11-27-2004 06:22 PM

if youre getting stuck at the loading screen ... just let it sit there ... for however long it needs to. 20 minutes wtf ever and eventually it will load up . i had the same problem and apparently i didnt have the whole thing dled ...

Disconnect from the net (turn off your modem or whatever) and then launch Steam. You should see an "Updating Steam....." box, it'll stay on the screen for a minute or so, then you should see this.....

There might be an easier/quicker way of doing it, but that's the only way I know of.

Well after that comes up, you choose offline and you get this:

I've actually been searching the Steam forums like a possessed madman in search of answers, seems plenty of other ppl have this. I also just found that a load of people are having the same problem as me regarding loaded save games, it gets to 95% then freezes/crashes/restarts windows. Sooooo many angry people on the forums, Valve better speak out about all the problems soon or there'll be a riot.
I'm really quite angry they haven't even addressed this problem, I mean even with the audio stuttering they admitted a 'small number' of people are having this problem, bullshit, its hundred of thousands, maybe over a million, they need to pull there finger out and stop counting their money for a second and help us out.

*grabs pitchfork and ignites torch*

That last update to fix the stuttering has done something to my CS:Source. It isn't running as smoothly as it used to. cuss:

Eight Ace 11-27-2004 08:02 PM

I dont have this game, but if I may venture to say that for something you actually pay
for, this HL2/steam arrangement appears to be an intrusive pile of steaming shite?

Akuma 11-27-2004 08:04 PM

For some people, yes, but for most it works well enough, if not flawlessly.
