That's really quite nice. Could you please tell me how to read teh files in the .pak files? I would like to create some mod of my own too http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif

That's fucking awesome! I had fun shooting at my allies (0% friendly fire) and they told me to fuck off, but I didn't care I was having so much fun watching blood smoke coming out of their body lol!
Nice one. ------------------ |

Thanks for the nice feedback!
.pk3 files are actually the same as .zip files. You can even open .pk3 files with winzip. Once you've made your changes you can zip them back up and rename the .zip file to .pk3 If you want to make your own custom skins for example all you need to do is make a .pk3 file such as pak6.pk3 with the new skins in it. As long as you keep the same folder structure as the pk3 file that has the old skin in it. The game will load the contents of your pack instead of the original. Thx again |

So say I want to modify the look of a the rifle clip, all I need to do is to make another clip_rifle.tga file, and replace it in pak1.pk3? Or can i just give it the same filename and make my own patch called pak7.pk3? ------------------ [This message has been edited by EliteCommando (edited December 16, 2001).] |

You would put clip_rifle.tga into a brand new pack - pak7.pk3 would do. All you need to keep is the same directory structure as the old file. For example if clip_rifle.tga was like this in pak1.pk3: weapons/textures/clip_rifle.tga Your pak7.pk3 needs to be the same, containing the directories weapons/textures/ and then your new texture file. |

would it be too hard to redo this mod but only adding blood to shots in the neck and head?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Some programming or scripting would be involved to do that. Now I'm not saying that it's impossible, yes it'll be "hard" IMHO. ------------------ "There wanst was two cats of Kilkenny Each cat thought there was one cat too many So they fought and they fit And they scratched and they bit 'Til instead of two cats there weren't any." - "Anonymous" |

Such is the way progress introduces itself.
http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I remember us having an intense discussion about the inclusion of blood in the final version of the game about 6 months ago. Friendships were severed, opinions thrown around like sharp disks waiting for their eventual prey. It was a hopeless situation, 2015 pressed but EA wouldn't have it : no blood would be included in the final version of the game. Alternatives were seeked of the most complex of natures. All seemed ineffective in all respects. Then, an individual saw the light at the end of the tunnel : SoLiDUS proposed a solution so simple and yet so effective, he was deemed crazy by his peers and the community in general. He proposed a simple color change in regards to the "exit puff" caused as a result of being shot, an idea most shunned or ignored. SoLiDUS knew, sooner or later, an enlightened soul would be sparked by the genius frequency and release this simple solution. <Burns tone> They said I was mad ... </Burns tone> Jason Tush just proved me right. Well, that's the end of my story, thank you for reading this useless trash. I'm just very happy someone saw the light http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif |
I had faith in it all along. It will look real good on the omaha mission.
