Police have arrested a man carrying a live hand grenade at Gatwick Airport and evacuated one terminal.
All flights out of the north terminal were suspended after the man - thought to be a 37-year-old Venezuelan - was detained under anti-terrorism laws.

Hundreds of passengers are inside planes stranded on the runway. However the south terminal is still open and flights are able to land.

The man's baggage was searched after his arrival on a British Airways flight from Colombia, Sussex Police said.

I was in London today, Trafalgar square to be exact... I saw about 5 police cars whizz past followed by numerous police vans..

Mebbe I should rethink going to university in the capital oOo:

Fantastic. Just my advice to all of you; if any of you should live in the NYC area, please stay away from Manhatten on Saturday, the 15th. No, I haven't officially heard anything, but I heard back in December that something was sopposed to happen on the 15th of FEB, and now, we are back on a hightened alert. So please, just take caution this weekend.

imported_Fluffy_Bunny 02-13-2003 02:40 PM

Mebbe that was sarcasm, but the fact is he was right and he only sent the troops in yesterday..

That grenade could have caused a lot of damage if it went off over central London.

..... in a B747.....

D00d, I was being serious. I'm in the fucking military, moron.

With all the gun control in London you should be perfectly safe!

Tripper 02-14-2003 04:24 PM

From what guns?

That's not what you should be afraid of.

I mean - Sept. 11 had nothing to do with guns. It was caused by a bunch of freaks with boxcutters.

You should be weary of foreigners in trenchcoats, with unusually large chests, and sweaty palms.

Or big fucking planes headed towards buildings...Not fucking guns.

What I'm trying to say is, Britain should be just as worried as you in the U.S....They haven't got it any better.

Ermm, sorry but finding 1 pissy grenade is no big deal and has sweet fuck all to do with tony blairs "send the army into london" idea.
I used to work in an airport and the amount of things found you wouldnt beleive, a weekly occurance.
They dont get made public as that would show how frequent these things happen and no doubt cause a panic, but since this 1 pissy grenade is found in a terror alert, its "spread the word! tony blair has saved the day!!!!"
give me a f*cking break. hake:
