I have been gaming since the early days of Quake 1. I have to admit that the last few years have pretty much sucked in terms of new FPS shooters... The last time any game had me as pumped up as MOHAA was when the leaked Half Life demo was released..
Half Life raised the bar to a level that was way beyond anything before it. I think the torch has FINALLY been passed to MOHAA, a game that is comparable to the excitement that HL brought to the table.. This game owns Q3, UT, SOF, RTCW and is on par with the initial addictiveness of CS during the first few betas!! Anyone agree with me??

To be frank, MoH:AA is another right step into FPS gaming, but I doubt it will be something absolutely phenominal. There will be games and what not that will be better the MoH:AA, unfortunate as it may seem. But, still, it will hopefully be the best thing I played since Half-Life. (I prefer Op-For over HL, though. Just can't get enuff of that bootcamp.)

I used to play CS, stopped about 3 months ago. Doubt I will ever play it again, cheaters have f*cked it up. Used to be good at it too, no point playing when you get shot through walls and have your head blown off by people running around with AWPs.

Bumrush 01-05-2002 08:35 AM

I played CS the day it came out. The first five or six betas were incredible untill the game got too popular and people started bitching and cheating.. I stopped playing CS as soon as version 1.0 was released, the realistic player speeds which encouraged teamplay were destroyed, and as soon as the game sped up it became a run and gun game with limited teamwork.. I fear the same thing will happen to MOHAA, all of the CS children will move over to this game and I hope the developers never cave in by implementing new features (such as bunny hopping) to "improve" player movement or weapon accuracy.. It seems excellent the way it is now.

I don't see why people think that MOHAA running is slow, seems just about right to me.

Bumrush 01-05-2002 08:43 AM

Probably because you can appreciate what lowering player speed does. Most people who only play DM want to run as fast as possible around the map and don't comprehend why in MOH players run under 30MPH.. LOL

8827Echo 01-05-2002 08:48 AM

I never liked cs for all it's dm crap, just cuz they got realistic guns and at least a slight indication of teamplay. So I moved onto DoD, played that ever since it came out. And if this has good multiplay, might change from DoD to this http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif

I too stopped playing CS a while ago, about 6 monthes ago. Too much whining, the maps got old, too few GOOD new maps, and the voice communication got kind of annoying after a while. DOD on the other hand is still at the top of my list, soon to be second because of MOH:AA. I love this game BUT, I also dont like the fact that its gonna force me to upgrade. On low settings I get an average of 20 fps. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/frown.gif

It won't stop me from playing DOD though. They have the mg42s coming in beta 2 and they got them right! Now if only I could import some of the MOH sound into DOD. Hmmmm......Does anyone know how I could do that?

Yes, I do.

And don't bother unless you know how to alter sound files. (Which I don't).

MOH:AA would have had the potential to last longer than it will, if it had a better engine. Q3's engine is a bit dated to what today's video cards and systems can do.

The game will have a following until someone does something with a better engine - such as "After The Wall" with Torque.

I dont think that graphics are the determining factor.. Look at HL, a game based off the Quake 1 engine!
I think what makes games last long is gameplay.. Judging by the growth of this community compared to other games (especially since it has not even been released yet) I think MOH has the potential to explode.. There have been tons of games with superior graphics compared to HL that died out because the gameplay was not up to par...
