Problem in WinXP

I'm sorta new here and I have wanted to play MoH:AA for quite sometime but I haven't been able to get the blasted thing to run.

Whenever I start it, it brings the splash screen up and crashes to the desktop. I have all the latest patches and drivers for my computer. I have DirectX 8.1 installed in WinXP Pro SP1 and I have the patch for MoH:AA installed.

I'm running a AMD Athlon XP 1800+ with 256MB PC-2100 DDR. I have a Geforce 2 MX 32MB AGP video card.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Might be you video card. Do you have the last Nvida drivers? Have you tried to start the game in safe mode? It might be you don't have enough video card on your machine.

Goto Nvidia.com and get the driver. When you install the driver, xp will ask you to stop. Don't do it! ............. just keep installing it, and your game will work fine. I had that problem when I installed my new Athlon 2000 XP. And I also use a Geforce 2.....goto pricewatch.com They have 128MB Nvidia Geforce 4 at a price of $54 new! I am waiting for my Geforce 4 4200 series TI. Cost about $126 new. Check it out....but for now, get that driver!

Before I forget, the problem is the open GL glide. It makes your game crash when you boot up. Your driver will fix it!

I have the latest drivers for all my hardware installed and I'm still getting the problem. I've even tried older drivers.

Heh, hes using a cracked or copied version.

A HUNGRY FATMAN 03-13-2003 08:19 AM

ya if your useing a cracked version of it, it wont work no mater what you do.
but if you dont i can't emagin why it would do that unless you GeForce 2 is the first one they ever made and that would be why it would be incable of runing MOH go to ninvidea and see what they can do for you

ChevyIIMan 03-13-2003 08:40 AM

I beg to differ. I purchased MOH and SP expansion retail. Mine will freeze mid game and I get the XP error box, then it crashes to desktop. I think I have enough computing power to runt his game....

AMD XP2000+
GF4 Ti4200 64MB
1.25Gig DDR

I have tried the latest nvidia drivers along with some older ones. Ive tried to turn down the sound hardware acceleration but all to no avail. Kind of sucks.... Any suggestions here?

A HUNGRY FATMAN 03-13-2003 08:44 AM

well what both of you could do is to go to the EA web site and go to the MOH page of it and ask for help from the trained people who are paid to anwser your questions

Zero_Interrupt 03-13-2003 11:31 AM

Don't you think I would've thought about that. All the EA website said was to shutdown all the processes that weren't needed. I did that and it still didn't work. And I am not using a cracked version of the game.

Zero_Interrupt 03-13-2003 11:32 AM

And I did email them like 4 days ago and still haven't received an answer. The damn website said 24 hours.

What version of nvidia drivers? You dont want anything over 41.09 right now.

OutlawSZ 03-14-2003 10:30 AM

openGL...thats the first thing that pops into my mind over this issue. that card you have will play this game..i have had lesser ati cards play this game. you have the drivers..and you said you got oengl downloaded and installed? one might think that this has been accomplished after the game was installed. if you have not done this already, then please remove the game completely and then reinstall the game.

contrary to popular belief from some people around here..wether the game is legit or cracked will make no difference as long as you use the proper no cd exe....with either version(cracked, retail). so that issue is dead.

you get the console load up screen at least...there should be an error listed in this screen when it crashes to desktop. what does that error say? or does the entire game just vanish on ya and no console windows remain open?

Well, I know 2 people that had the same problem. Do you have SH installed? Both my friends had SH installed and their game would crash. They uninstalled SH and everything is fine now. I have no idea why SH affected their games like it did, but ever since they got rid of SH, their game works fine. Uninstall SH if you have it, and see if that works. Just a suggestion.
