Stalingrad Snow Download Link
This is from my file storage so if you get excessive bandwidth try again but I doubt it.
Download Link Make sure you unzip and read the readme file. http://www.angelfire.com/dragon/cobra0/ ... adsnow.zip HAVE FUN! And post your comments PLEASE. |
I love the destructable things. But a bit unrealistic that you can destroy a wood plank with one shot. And when played in SH, it rains ashes not snow. biggrin: But that's not your fault. A loading pic would be nice. And the map looks a bit "empty". No pics on the walls, no furniture. Besides that, good work, should be a nice sniper map.

WoW Good work the map is great

Map Pointers :
1. Remove the drifting snow to up the fps. 2. Correct the snowflake shader. 3. Don't make the planks so easily destroyable. You kill the flow of the map that way. 4. Tiny bit more fog. 5. Get some ambience. |
Thanks guys. I will take ALL of those comments into consideration. I just wanted this map to be plain and simple TDM no additions other than the obvious. No extra textures. I didn't apply a vis leaf group because you can see most of the map from almost anywhere out any window, plus it ran great without all the junk static models and ambient lighting. I wanted STALINGRAD in the Snow, that ran good. This map I hope will show you my ability to learn from past mapping mistakes.
Thanks you all very much for checking it out. I expect people to be playing this on severs. |
Alliedassault.us download link
Here is the alliedassault.us download link to Stalingrad Snow.
http://www.alliedassault.us/pafiledb3/p ... ile&id=409 And a few comments about the map, myself. I wanted a player to fall when the planks were shot no matter what. So if they are running from one building to the next one snipe would drop them 4 stories to the ground. The planks on the bridge are a lot tougher but one nade and it's all over. The drifting snow was for effects but if you drop the detail of your effects down I don't see the drifts causing TOO much of a fps problem. I agree with you Powell on the ambience but I feared a drop in fps. I thought the outside snow was good enough. I didn't fill the rooms with junk because, let's face it, no one gives a shit about the bed in the bedrooms, they want PING and Fps. I've heard enough bitching to last for 3 threads on this subject, so I did my best. |
Not map ambience, but sound ambience. Environmental sound of Stalingrad in winter. I could cook you up a custom soundtrack for the map if you want. Let me know.

Any server with the Map?
|
Dunno. My server will probably be up over the weekend. I'd love to see how it runs with a 5-10 people.

We're switching server hosts so as soon as the new one is up I'm putting this map on the server. |
Thanks MadMan, I live in New England USA and a lot of my friends and consultants for maps do as well. They will be happy to join the battle. Thanks for trying it out.
|
very cool cobra def a all out kill fest kinda map biggrin: I also would like to hear some ambiance but besides that o thought it rocked. Also my fpa was about 100 most of the time never droping below 80.
|
Cool. Sorry about the loss of background sound. I just didn't put it in. The map is fun as hell. I played it all night last night when I got back from where I was with my laptop. I noticed that people are scared shitless to cross that icy river. Atleast when I'm sniping they are. MUhahHahaha evil:
|
No Bots? No obj? No axis kill Vassili Ziatsev? Allies kill Major Konig? NO give them each rule over two different buildings top floor. No access for players. They MUST snipe them. I will make them very sneaky top avoid being sniped. They will have excellent vison in this one. One on each side of the freezing tributary of icy water???
|
Relax Toenail. I am making the obj version now.
