Okay I definitely need help buying a video card. I am probably going to get some type of Geforce 2 64mb card. I don't need anything dealing with multiple monitors, dvds, or tv-out. I'm going to get for games and games alone. Now I know there are different types of of Geforce 2's like mx or something else. I see that some Geforce 2 32mb are more expensive than a Geforce 2 64mb. WHY? Also, I know a little bit about computers and installing things, mainly games though. What I am asking is it hard to install a video card. I see that some say they are "Plug and Play". Do I need to buy an air conditioning unit. I know nothing about that. Here are 2 video cards I'm very interested in buying. Help me out.

Can't go wrong with GF2-MX 32/64, unless you're building a high end machine.

exactly.. that's why I say buy yourself a GTS.. VERY powerful (and will stay that way for a long time) and not costly (if you look at the prices and compare) at all..

geforce3s' will drop in price and become affordable (LOL) in 5 or 6 months.. good enough ? can you say christmas !?

There are different types of Geforce2's: Plain, MX, Pro, GTS and finally, ULTRA.
Cost will depend on type and memory.

Also, the 64 meg versions of the Geforce2's are simply a luxury: NO GAME OUT RIGHT NOW OR IN THE "NEAR" FUTURE IS GOING TO REQUIRE MORE THAN 32 MEGS. Anyone telling you otherwise just doesn't know lol..

0- Prior to installing your new vidcard, uninstall your old one through windows (delete it in your device manager), turn off your pc, remove (physically) the old card and make the switch.
1- READ the manual ! It's there for a reason.
2- Set-up the AGP aperture size in your BIOS.
3- Let windows do its' part
4- Install the appropriate drivers
5- Have fun.

No, no cooling devices necessary unless you're working in VERY cramped environments: the vidcards' fan will do fine.

I'm buying myself a Geforce2 GTS w/ 32 megs pretty soon. It's going to cost me 270$ canadian (all taxes added).

Contrary to what most people will tell you, the GTS is ages ahead of the MX and trust me; when the new games start coming out, you'll be glad you have the extra power. Unless you can't afford it, that's a completely different story.

Paying more for a card is stupid because the Geforce3's are going to drop in price soon and they're priced similarly to ULTRAs'...

If you want cheap and fast go for a Leadtek Winfast Geforce 2 GTS Pro 64 Mb DDR (5ns) This card is great. I'm getting it with my new computer.... Or just save up and buy yourself a GF3.

the geforce 2 was $500 for awhile and it droped when other stuff came in

its all a question of how long do you think you'll have that card where it wont become obsolete anytime soon . i'd say that you'd should go with the gts , its stronger then the Mx and i think it will last longer too.

What's better a mx-400 64mb or a gts 32 mb. Let me repeat I am not a hardcore gamer. I do not need perfect performance just something that can easily handle future games without much of a problem. Depending on how much money I get this summer, is what will most likely decide what kind of card I'll get. I kinda wanna buy some games too without going over budget on a video card.

I believe that if you want to buy a video card and are not planning on buying another one for a long time while also ensuring good playability for future games, buy a Geforce2 GTS. Like I said in one of my previous post: it will take you where no mx can..

Go with a Geforce 2 MX64 megs...

Its damn well worth the price, and its good quality..

All you have to do is stick the card in the AGP slot and reboot the computer and install the software.. very easy...

Also change the settings and shit.. Again, VERY EASY.
