BoB and most classics are better,

I'd destroy every copy in existence if it kept gamer kiddies from thinking there is actually a tank called the "panzer" type annoy:

intrestedviewer 05-22-2004 09:56 AM

Panzer IV, and Panzer VI (Tiger tank) which was the first tank to be given an actual name (tiger). Otherwise they were panzers mark something, safe to say army boys just called em panzers.

TonyMontana 05-22-2004 09:58 AM

i have SPR already, so i doubt i'll pick it up

that's referring to kraut armor in general though,
in the movie I clearly heard "two Tiger tanks and two Panzer tanks, plus 50 infantry" so apparently some boon in production thought that it was a designation; and this floated into games.

I'm pretty sure that when it came time to report the soldiers would try to explain to their CO what kind of "panzer" they saw, otherwise it may be a Tiger and it may be a MkII scout-tank (which a BAR could just about penetrate)

Unfortunately like many movie mistakes, this became a "pop culture" thing among gamers and other people that don't know shit about WWII and history. I just want to slap the hell out of someone when they base their entire knowledge of history on one movie and then pretend like they're smart because of it
