HL2 Purchase
 

How did you purchase HL2? Retail or Steam? Im asking because i want to know what way is better since people have had problems with retail..

I bought it through steam and have had no problems whatsoever.

Okay i ordered it off of Newegg for 49.99, free shipping rock:
should be arriving Monday or Tuesday.

i would never buy it without owning a legit copy of the disks

Retail for me.

Can anyone tell me if, once running HL2, can you unplug the modem and keep on playing? does it require a constant internet connection in the background?

Its just I have 2 pcs and would transfer the modem to a different PC while I play HL2 and so another person can tinker on the interweb....

yeah thats why i decided to go with retail..not having the disks kinda has that uneasyness...

You can just burn the steam cache files to a CD/DVD.

Steam even has a backup feature to do it for you.

cant you lazy nerds actually go outside to buy your games anymore? biggrin:

if I were to buy it be the retail version

everyone buy it and lets set up a GF1 server for CSS =)
