Akuma or some AMD specialist
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego Integrated into Chip FSB 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor
wtf does San Diego Intergrated mean? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819103539 And is this chip any good for the price? |
As far as i know san diego is their core with the better memory controller or somehting along those lines. I think venice is the newest core they have out at present.

San Diego and Venice are the new cores. They have the exact same architecture except the SD have 1MB of L2 cache vs 512kb on Venice.

Another question, what is newer (better), Clawhammer or Venice cores.
|
Venice. I have clawhammer in my fx-53, and its about a year old.

This is what i got so far on my new system:
- Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 (with PCI-E 16x slot) - Corsair XMS 1 GB PC3200 (DDR400) - AMD 64 3700+ Socket 939 (San diego, Intergrated into Chip FSB..no idea wtf that is) - Antec 500W PSU (gonna need to hold all the power ill be putting down) - ATI Radeon X800 PCI-E - 120 GB Western Digital harddrive |
More ram Id say.

Not sure if you meant a different card, but the X800 *not XL/XT* isn't that great. Definitely get the X800XL at the very least.
Also, more RAM will help if you are looking to not upgrade this computer again for a long time. But then again, 1GB sticks are really expensive and can't keep up with the performance of 512MB sticks. As more people need them, manufactures will make them cheaper and faster. Also, I'm not a fan of Gigabyte. DFI makes the best A64 PCIe mobo, it's an SLI motherboard, though. Antec PSUs aren't that great. OCZ Powerstreams are good. If you really want the best for your new kick ass system, I highly suggest getting a PC Power and Cooling 510 Express/SLI. |
Ill eventualy get another gig of ram later on, right now i just dont have 140 dollars for another fucking gig of it. And ive never had a problem with Antec PSU's. Ive had one ever since i had my first computer, i know alot of people who like them alot. As far as the gfx card goes, i meant to say the XL, i might even get the X850 once the price drops on them. The motherboard i did alot of checking on, and alot of people like it alot because its stable as shit. I have a gigabyte board and i love it because its so stable. I never even heard of DFI, plus you said its SLI, i dont like nVidia so.
The RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820145504 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820145573 The second one is better right? But will it run in this motherboard? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813128268 |
If you are going Antec make sure you get a NeoPower. Those ones are pretty good.
The second RAM you listed is DDR2 which is crappy and only works on the new Intel chips. You need DDR for AMD. I'll also recommend against Corsair. I know they have name recognition and all, but their RAM isn't that great. There are much better buys... OCZ is the new Corsair. That Gigabyte motherboard still uses the Nvidia NForce4 chipset... I guess if you don't want a second PCIe slot, then whatever. DFI LanParty SLI-DR is the best A64 motherboard available. |

Is this good OCZ ram? I want some good RAM so someone help me the fuck out here. Also when it says 2-2-3-5 shit like that on RAM, is it the higher the numbers the better, or the lower the better? |
Someone correct me if I am wrong but the lower the better. But I believe that as the latencies decrease, some of its overclocking stability is lost. Sorry if that sentence seems worded weird.
As far as the memory linked goes, it looks good to me but Akuma and geRV may see otherwise. |
