Graphics Card Question

Simple question which one would be better?

Geforce 6600 GT OC or ATI All-in-Wonder 9600XT?

anti 07-17-2005 12:11 AM

the 6600 will perform much better than the 9600. in concerns to the 6600gt oc vs. plain 6600gt - im not sure on this but i think the only difference from a 6600gt oc to a normal 6600gt is the fact that the oc comes from the factory already overclocked. its not worth it to pay extra for a bit of an overclock when you could easily do it yourself with the push of a button. if you get a 6600gt get a good brand such as an msi, evga, leadteck, or xfx.

Alright thanks.

Ok well ive looked at this maybe going there tommorow
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/eVGA-e-G ... tDetail.do
But I dont know if I have AGP or PCI Express is there a way I can check that out or what?
Also if I wanted to overclock it how would I do that?

geRV 07-17-2005 12:35 AM

Agp port looks like this

Pci express looks like this

Theyre always located up near the cpu so easy to find.

You can overclock if you want, but unless you get the core overclocked by about 100mhz or more you won;t really notice much difference in games, just benchmarks.

I took a quick took at the side of my comp it has a little window thing and I believe the graphics card has the clamps on the side so that would mean it is a AGP correct? Also quick question what is the difference between the 2, and if one is better which one?

Pci express was brought out for more bandwidth and the ability to use multiple cards in a system (see my sig). Pci express is better in the longrun, agp will start to be phased out soon.

And yeah if that little slot is brown and has that little clamp at the end its agp.

Do Not Buy the e-VGA 6600!

I have that card and so far it's been giving me nothing but shit. Try another manufactuer like MSI, or PNY. e-VGA can suck my node.

That sucks. eVGA is known to be one of the best manufacturers after BFG.

My Fx5900 is a eVGA and it's been running fine for over a year and a half now.

Stammer 07-17-2005 03:44 PM

I might have just gotten a shit card, either way they are sending another one to replace mine so hopefully it will work.

I'm using the galaxy 6600GT - works very nice indeed.
