Royal Canadian Regiment
 

So at drill this weekend at our beautiful little piece of quantico, ther was 3rd battalion, Royal Canadian regiment there. They said they were from Ontario. An Active duty unit, with generation 3 LAVs. I was talking to 2 of them just bull shitting around, learned some intresting stuff about the canadian army and what not. But mainy i wrote this to tell ninty lol. Not to mention they were good guys, really nice and they were eager to hear about how we operate as much as we wanted to hear about them. So they were good to go. rock:

Were they attractive?

Well I plan on enlisting in the Marine Reserves and I had some questions...

1) How exactly do you pick what you want to do? I want to do something with those Howitzers do I choose or what?

2) I was told that full time is 4 years and reserves are 6, when that 6 is up that's it right?

3) Is basic training 9 weeks like in every other branch?

4) Can you go to college while your in the reserves?

5) How does a rotation work?

6) Is it really 2 weekends a month 2 weeks a year or is that bullshit?

7) I live in New Jersey but all the bases seem to be in the Carolina's, am I flown down there from a base here in New Jersey or what?

1: goto your recruiter tell him you want reserves with howitzers. If theres a unit in the area he'll let you know, if not, you cant get it, it has to be a unit within 50 miles of your home.

2: After 6 years your done

3: Its 13 weeks, USMC is the longest basic training in the US military

4:Yes you can goto college in the reserves, they pay for you to go also.

5: A rotation?

6: It is 1 weekend a month but the 2 weeks doesnt nessecirily mean its in the summer, mine was in april

7: Im sure theres a base in NJ somewhere that Marines reservesists are on. Like an army base or some shit.

That's cool Milla. We do a lot of training in the states. I was in Ft Lewis 2 years ago. We're supposed to be going to Camp Pendleton which is a USMC base in California in Feb which i'm sure you know.

I know lots of guys (and a few gals) in the regiment. All class acts, man. My cousin is in the RCAF and he told me once that he's never been more proud of anything in his life.
